Summary of Position:

The Quality Inspector will be responsible for inspecting products and processes to ensure they meet established quality standards. This role will also involve developing and implementing quality assurance protocols and procedures to enhance our manufacturing processes.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generate and maintain procedures and work instructions for quality assurance processes.
  • Develop and implement quality inspection plans.
  • Conduct inspections of machined, welded, and pressure-tested components.
  • Perform pressure and leak testing to ensure product integrity.
  • Use precision measuring instruments to verify product dimensions and tolerances.
  • Analyze quality data and generate reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Enforce quality assurance related policies and procedures throughout the facility.
  • Perform 1st article inspections of incoming and finished components when required.
  • Generate Material Reject Notices (MRN) for non-conforming materials and components.
  • Attend, direct, and implement dispositions of the Material Reject Board (MRB).
  • Perform Positive Material Identification (PMI) inspections of incoming material.
  • Calibrate inspection tools according to inspection procedures and good practices.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in preparing for and participating in internal and external audits.
  • Use ERP system as necessary to obtain and document material codes and specifications.
  • Obtain engineering drawings from SharePoint as needed for inspection.
  • Maintain MRN log in SharePoint log to track and control rejected materials.
  • Maintain calibration records and logs within SharePoint to ensure inspection equipment throughout the facility is in calibration.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance product quality.
  • Train and mentor production staff on quality standards and best practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in quality assurance methodologies.
  • Collaborate with production teams to investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Employees are expected to perform all duties listed above as well as all other duties assigned by their manager to support the overall objectives of the business.
  • Position may occasionally require travel to customer or external provider sites to provide support.

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office and plant floor environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Plant floor environment typically requires the use of PPE such as safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, cut-resistant gloves, etc.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Also, must be able to physically move materials weighing up to 2400 lbs using various forms of material handling equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
