The Sheet Metal Shop Associate is a member of the Danforth Company Shop Operations Team reporting to the Regional Tool Shop Manager. The Sheet Metal Shop Associate is accountable for all support and tasks required of the Sheet Metal shop primarily for jobsite and fabrication shop support. These duties include but are not limited to; gathering materials and tools for our jobsites, loading and unloading JWD and vendor vehicles, assisting in safety management, managing inventory levels, material supply/return management, various levels of communication & coordination with the shop and field, deliveries to and from jobsites, proper reporting of time.

To assist in establishing a corporate culture of maximizing shop utilization; where we have best in class safety standards and personnel, while maintaining effective and efficient processes for; tooling, procurement, material handling, and quality checks of our tools. Assist with providing reduced labor costs through efficiencies while ensuring complete field support and on time deliveries leading to reduced overall project costs.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing shop fabrication for delivery including but not limited to:
    1. Wrapping all duct work, spiral, coil, fittings, etc.…
    2. Gathering all applicable parts pertaining to the shipment, accessories, purchase, consumables, etc.…
  • Load trucks according to the fabrication release information and the shop delivery schedule.
    1. Coordinate with Dispatcher daily to maintain efficient on time deliveries
  • Unload and restock materials returned from job sites.
  • Maintain an acceptable level of inventoried consumable items, ordering as needed.
  • Receive all deliveries, communicating receipt of received materials to the necessary individual and distributing as needed.
    1. UPS/FedEx
    2. Vendor deliveries of purchase materials
    3. Raw materials, e.g. Coil, ward frame, etc.
    4. Welding materials and gas bottles
  • Maintain a safe working environment reporting any accidents or injuries immediately. (no matter how minor)
  • Make job site deliveries as needed
  • Exterior Storage / Parking Lot –
    1. maintain clean and organized parking lot areas - Daily
    2. Move carts inside – Daily c. Store good pallets for reuse or sale as necessary,
    3. Throw out unwanted pallets - Daily
    4. Secure all loose items when weather conditions require (ex; plywood in high wind events and ensure areas are safe for plowing)
    5. Cleaning & Sweeping As Required (Seasonally – Minimum)
  • Building & Grounds
    1. Landscaping – weeding/leafs etc.…
    2. Snow Blowing & Shoveling – Clear all doors 10’ away from building
    3. All Building Garbage inside & outside – Change as needed (weekly minimum)
    4. Coordinate Dumpster Pick Ups
    5. Propane Bottles (and other gas bottles)– Stored properly
  • Keep Shop Neat and Organized and in a “Complete State of Readiness”
  • ODJC Reporting – Due on a Weekly Basis for All Projects Worked On.
  • Complete support of shop operations with whatever tasks necessary
  • Support Shop Operations and projects as required for Danforth to be successful.

Experience & Requirements

  • Must be accountable and ready to work.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours.
  • Must have a valid NYS Drivers License (with a clean driving record)
  • Strong communication skills; oral, written, and computer,
  • Must have the integrity, enthusiasm, and willingness to represent the company in the most professional, positive manner.

Education

High School Degree or Equivalent

$18 - 20/hourly
