Gateway Rehab (GRC) has a dynamic position located in the Pittsburgh, PA region for a Community-based Certified Recovery Specialist. You will provide support and assistance to patients in the Pittsburgh community with identified SUD to gain access to the resources, treatment services, and support that will help them to achieve improved quality of life and sustained recovery. You must have certification through the Pennsylvania Certification Board as a Certified Recovery Specialist.


Responsibilities:

  • Provides information and opportunities for recovering individuals to direct their own recovery and advocacy processes.
  • Provides support to patients with identified SUD.
  • Facilitates warm hand-offs and referrals from the appropriate providers.
  • Provides information and opportunities for recovering individuals to direct their own recovery and advocacy processes.
  • Provides education and support to others related to addiction and recovery.
  • Organizes data collection relating to community referrals and outcomes.
  • Establishes a relationship with patient that displays dignity and respect as reflected in professional language and appropriate boundaries.
  • Teaches and supports the acquisition and utilization of skills needed to facilitate recovery.
  • Promotes knowledge of and linkage to available services, options, and choices.
  • Promotes the utilization of natural resources within the community, other agencies, and services systems. Arranges referrals to other agencies, community programs, and other resources to meet the needs of the patient and family.
  • Facilitates the development of a sense of wellness, self-worth, and identification of unique strengths.
  • Documents interactions and progress in patient’s electronic medical record; completes all documentation within required time frame.
  • Participates in group supervision and individual supervision.
  • Participates in Care Coordination department meetings, other department, and agency meetings, and internal and/or external trainings to promote performance improvement.
  • Attends all Gateway Rehab mandatory training and in-services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of Culture Diversity required
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good computer skills, i.e., MS Office.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional setting.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Understanding of and/or personal experiences with addiction and recovery required.
  • Must have certification through the Pennsylvania Certification Board as a Certified Recovery Specialist.

Other Requirements

  • Pass a PA Criminal Background Check.
  • Obtain PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances.
  • Pass Drug Screen.
  • TB test.
  • Must have at least 18 months in recovery from substance dependence.

Work Conditions

  • Travel within Pittsburgh, PA Region.
  • Drug and Alcohol Rehab environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
