New Oakland Family Centers provides comprehensive behavioral health and substance abuse services for consumers across Michigan, in both outpatient and partial hospitalization settings.
Location: Ann Arbor
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm or other full-time equivalent. Additional hours may be available under Transend Transportation.
Reports To: President / Director of Operations / Business Operations Supervisor / Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor / Clinical Director / Clinical Supervisor
Compensation: Hourly Employee; $19-$21/hour. Commensurate with experience.
Position Summary: The Lead Behavioral Health Technician/Driver is a full time position comprised of multiple clinical and administrative responsibilities related to the FACE to FACE Partial Hospital Day Program. The Lead Behavioral Health Technician/Driver is an exemplary employee who provides leadership and policy reinforcement assistance in support of New Oakland Family Centers’ mission.

Essential Duties / Functions:
- Assists Technician Supervisor and Managers of Behavioral Health Technicians with mentoring/leadership/training of behavioral technician staff, policy reinforcement, route planning, and other tasks as needed.
- Serves as a liaison among leadership and behavioral health technicians as needed.
- Takes the lead in designing and implementing efficient routes for consumer transportation. This includes analyzing traffic patterns, client locations, and scheduling requirements to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation services.
- Collaborates with the Behavioral Health Technician leadership team to continuously improve route planning and adapt to changing consumer needs and operational conditions.
- Oversees the inventory of site supplies, ensuring accurate tracking and timely restocking. Monitors usage levels, anticipates future needs, and places supply orders to maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Enforces adherence to daily operational expectations by holding technicians accountable to professional standards and facility policies/procedures, monitoring performance and providing feedback to leadership team.
- Allocates room assignments for technicians by assessing the specific requirements of the milieu and ensuring optimal distribution of resources and skills to meet operational demands.
- Acts in accordance with professional standards and the policies/procedures of the facility and actively participates as a positive member of the clinic environment.
- Transports consumers to and from the facility, ensuring compliance with all safety requirements and protocols.
- Co-facilitates group therapy sessions in conjunction with a licensed clinician.
- Interacts with clients daily and assists them in working toward milieu goals.
- Appropriately handles any crisis situation that may occur such as: CPI-approved physical intervention if necessary; CPR if necessary and pursuing eloping clients.
- Oversees and participates in meals and snack times with clients.
- Adheres to rotation schedules; both milieu and monitoring of clientele until under supervision of parent/legal guardian.
- Performs light daily straightening of the milieu to ensure a clean and organized environment. Replenishes supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock levels and support the smooth operation of daily activities.
- Responsible for cleaning up bodily functions (i.e., urine, feces, emesis, etc.) while clients are under milieu care, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
- Completes documentation as required by the clinic’s policies and procedures.
- Communicates daily with FACE to FACE staff regarding clinical and administrative issues/activities.
- Provides coverage to all NOFC locations, as instructed by the Behavioral Health Technician leadership team.
- Fulfills all initial and ongoing training requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions: Staff are to dress professionally at all times per the Employee Handbook. Staff will need to be prepared to be actively involved with consumers.
Requirements
Bachelor/Pre-bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling is highly preferred. High school graduate or equivalent required. 1-2 years of NOFC experience required. Must be able to work well with all types of people and all populations including children. Must possess a current Michigan Chauffeur’s license. Approved driving record is required.
