Join Our Team as a Shift Supervisor

Pay: $16-$18 / hourly

Position: Shift Supervisor

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for assisting the store manager in maintaining a positive environment that provides fast, efficient, and friendly service, ensuring a Total Quality Experience for both customers and team members. The Shift Supervisor supports training, customer service, product knowledge, and education, promoting safe work practices and upholding company principles. This role directly supervises barista and lead barista positions and acts as the manager on duty in the absence of the store and/or assistant manager.

Responsibilities:

Store Operation:

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked environment.
  • Assist in product shipment distribution as needed.
  • Perform all POS duties, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Corporate Office as necessary.
  • Uphold cash handling procedures and be accountable for store funds during shifts.
  • Promote and practice safe work habits, reporting potential safety hazards and operational issues to the store manager.

Customer Service:

  • Model outstanding service and take ownership of service initiatives during shifts.
  • Proactively solve customer problems and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure team members follow Standard Operating Procedures, greeting and assisting customers with efficiency and friendliness.
  • Develop rapport with customers by learning their preferences.
  • Respond proactively to prevent customer service issues and resolve incidents when needed.

Training & Development:

  • Lead and communicate company principles, House Rules, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Coach and train baristas and lead baristas on performance expectations.

Safety and Sanitation:

  • Lead in proper cleaning and organizational plans.
  • Ensure food handling practices and compliance with safety and sanitation standards.

Product and Merchandising:

  • Ensure adherence to company drink recipes and procedures, maintaining high-quality and consistent standards.
  • Support team members in product and service education, including coffee, tea products, blends, and roasts.
  • Taste test products for quality assurance.
  • Assist in planning and executing sales promotions effectively.

Supervision:

  • Foster effective communication among team members.
  • Maintain proper coverage and schedules, ensuring adherence to customer service standards and meal/break policies.
  • Guide team members in following store policies, procedures, and cleanliness standards.
  • Report and document team member incidents and conduct initial investigations.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • High organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency and maintain a positive attitude.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum one year of retail or customer service experience, or six months of specialty coffee experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Register and cash handling experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Handle food, hot beverages, and work with sharp objects.
  • Stand and walk for long periods (approximately 90% of shift).
  • Bend over and kneel frequently.
  • Lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently; occasionally carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Work in cold temperatures for extended periods.
