Position: Resident Service Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: YWCA Cambridge, Central Square, Cambridge, MA 02139

Position Summary:
The Resident Service Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and is a key member of YWCA Cambridge's Tanner Residence team. In addition to building supportive relationships with our Tanner residents, the Resident Service Coordinator works alongside property management, case management teams, and YWCA program staff to cultivate a warm and welcoming community at our 103-unit Single Room Occupancy (SRO) residence.

YWCA Cambridge has provided housing for women throughout its 132-year history, and the Resident Service Coordinator plays a significant direct care role in alignment with our organization's mission of "eliminating racism and empowering women". Through coordinating and offering supportive services and case management for residents, the Resident Service Coordinator assists residents in meeting personal goals that encourage independence and improve their long-term quality of life.

Essential Functions:
Duties include but may not be limited to the following.

Case Management
- Develop trusting and respectful relationships with residents and, where needed, develop strategies to reach isolated residents in order to increase receptivity to residential supports
- Provide case management to Tanner residents who need supportive services to succeed with independent living; where applicable, collaborate with residents' respective service providers and case managers to provide ongoing support
- Partner with Tanner property management team regarding resident lease compliance to identify and assist residents to resolve identified issues
- Connect residents to local supportive services and resources with the intent of promoting safety, health & wellness, and personal responsibility
- Work with local agencies, civic groups, businesses and partners to develop specific services where there are gaps, including donations
- Perform periodic check-ins on resident's wellness, as appropriate
- Employ trauma-informed de-escalation methods in response to individual crisis intervention and management
- Collect and maintain accurate data and case management notes regarding resident contact, needs, and services in confidential manner
- Participate in staff meetings, case review meetings, and other relevant meetings and trainings

Event Management
- Develop and manage workshops, events, and activities to support resident needs and goals, including financial literacy, workforce development, and education
- Plan and host holiday & birthday celebrations as well as various community events
- Encourage residents to participate in group activities and promote community-building through building-wide outreach and individual conversations
- Support onsite resident and community meetings

Qualifications:
- Passion for and commitment to the YWCA mission of eliminating racism and empowering women
- Degree in Social Work or in the social service field, or 5-6 years of equivalent work experience that includes case management, counseling, and therapeutic intervention with people with a history of homelessness, mental illness, domestic or sexual violence, and/or substance use
- Licensed mental health professional with experience working with a diverse female population preferred
- Experience with and commitment to using trauma-informed de-escalation and response to emergency and crisis situations
- Compassion for and knowledge of low-income difficulties, homeless and housing issues, and resources available to develop long-term solutions
- People-oriented with ability to work with a diverse population, with cultural competency and sensitivity to differences in religion, sexual orientation, race, age, and physical or mental illness
- Thrives in and values a team setting and able to work independently
- Demonstrated administrative experience in a residential environment, preferably affordable housing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
- Working knowledge of state and federal housing laws and tenant rights
- Bilingual, with an emphasis in English and Spanish (preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
This position will work independently in an office space within the housing residence and will meet residents throughout the building. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
