3 vacancies are open for this position in the North region. The five clinics within the North home region that an interested applicant will need to be comfortable commuting to as scheduled is: Wesley Chapel, Trinity, Land O Lakes, Sun Lake, and Tarpon Springs
What You'll Do:
Work as a compassionate Patient Care Technician mid office team member who provides patient care under the direct supervision of the providers.
The position will remain open until all vacancies are successfully filled.
Responsibilities:
- Performs Patient Care Technician tasks and procedures and assists the providers with patients, including preparing patients to be seen by the provider.
- Record and confirm initial medical history for the chart, vital signs, and explaining the exam process to the patients.
- Maintain and clean examination rooms. Keep examination rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, washes and dries instruments used, and prepares sterilization as required.
- Undertake front office and clerical duties such as assisting patients with paperwork, verifying patient demographics, insurance benefits, and performing billing and bookkeeping functions.
- Assists provider in all special procedures, including minor surgery, as requested. Assists with any procedures that have been taught through formal training or by provider.
- Outlines care instructions to patients as instructed by provider.
- Updates medical records/charts in accordance with the organization's procedures and forms.
- Follows HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality and follows principles of medical ethics.
- Clean wounds, draws labs, electrocardiograms, and applies dressings and splints as directed by provider.
- Assists patients any time an urgent need is apparent or as directed by supervisory staff.
- Responsible for proper handling and storage of all medications stored in the office.
- Assists in lab procedures under the supervision of provider or which training has been given.
- Other duties may consist of notifying patients of lab results, giving vaccines, immunizations and medications prescribed by the doctor; lab work consisting of throat cultures, hematocrits, and urinalysis.
- Complete required training as assigned by the organization.
- Cross train between mid-office and front office responsibilities to ensure a synced clinic.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates empathetic and superior communication skills
- Exhibits outstanding customer service and patient care
- Can effectively act as a liaison between patients and providers
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi- task
- Follows established office routines and policies
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Understanding ethics of confidentiality/HIPAA
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Connects in a courteous and friendly attitude to patients and team members
- Experience with EPIC strongly preferred
- Performs other admin related duties as assigned
- Ability to help assist with front office duties as needed/requested
Education and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Current BLS certification required
- Hold a current PCT certification required
- Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Experience with EPIC strongly preferred
Work Environment:
- This job operates in a professional medical environment
- Onsite position
- Consistent use of technology platforms throughout shift to complete assigned work tasks
- Frequent use of working on a computer to complete assigned work tasks
- Ability to move supplies and office equipment (up to 20 pds)
Work Schedule and Travel:
- Typical Work Schedule: 40-hour work week Sunday through Saturday with 3 x 12-hour shifts and 1 x 6-hour shift
- Every other weekend required
- Overtime hour availability based on patient volume and clinic needs
- Regional staffing requires travel within region. Travel outside region may be required based on volumes and clinic needs.
- Mileage program available
- May require traveling to clinic locations outside preferred region during training
