Cornelis Networks is seeking a highly motivated HPC Systems Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in high-performance computing, with experience in the design, implementation, and optimization of HPC systems. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical skills and the ability to support and collaborate with users. This person will be required to work in our lab located at our headquarters in Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania. Therefore, although some remote work is possible, this person will need to live within commuting distance to Chesterbrook. 


Key Responsibilities

 

System Design and Implementation:

    • Assist in the design, deployment, and maintenance of HPC clusters, including hardware and software components.
    • Help configure and optimize HPC systems to ensure performance and efficiency.

Performance Tuning and Optimization:

    • Monitor and analyze system performance, assisting in the identification and resolution of bottlenecks.
    • Implement performance improvements and optimizations for HPC applications under the guidance of senior engineers.

Software Installation and Management:

    • Install, configure, and manage HPC software, libraries, and tools.
    • Ensure compatibility and integration with existing systems and applications.

User Support and Training:

    • Provide technical support to users of the HPC systems, addressing routine queries and issues.
    • Assist in conducting training sessions and creating documentation to help users effectively utilize HPC resources.

System Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Perform routine maintenance and upgrades of HPC infrastructure.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues, escalating complex problems to senior engineers as needed.

Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with application teams and other stakeholders to understand their computational needs.
    • Collaborate with it teams and vendors to ensure seamless integration of HPC systems with other infrastructure.

Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of system configurations, changes, and performance metrics.
    • Prepare regular reports on system usage, performance, and reliability.

 

Qualifications 

 

  • Required Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Required Experience:
    • Experience  in HPC systems engineering.
    • Experience with HPC cluster design, implementation, and management.
  • Required Technical Skills:
    • Experience with Linux operating systems and HPC software (e.g., Slurm, OpenMPI, BeeGFS, Lustre, Ansible, WareWulf).
    • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
    • Understanding of network protocols and high-speed interconnects (e.g., Omni-Path, InfiniBand).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
    • Comfortable working in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.

 

Location 

This is an onsite position at our corporate offices in Chesterbrook, PA with some remote work possible.
