The Opportunity:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the credit union in achieving its service mission of building trusted relationships by providing our members with superior financial solutions and outstanding service.

The Assistant Manager of Consumer Lending directs and controls the activities and staff of the Lending Department to ensure adequate service to the dealers, members, and employees. This role maintains policies, procedures, goals, and loan products, as well as trains, guides, and evaluates employees to create an effective and efficient team.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervises, trains and coaches Lending Department staff. Responsible for conducting employee ESP meetings and helping employees set personal and professional goals
  • Conducts daily/weekly/monthly team meetings to discuss department goals and other department tasks
  • Analyzes and audit daily report of new loans for accuracy
  • Reviews and implements new and/or improved loan products including making recommendations on rate changes
  • Manages dealer relationships associated with indirect loans and external vendors including title offices, appraisers, etc.
  • Handles difficult and special circumstance loan transactions and workouts.
  • Backs up Loan Officers as an underwriter. Interviews and counsels credit challenged members to restructure debt load
  • Backs up Centralized Lending Processors by processing loans as needed
  • Attends outside functions to improve products and procedures or to educate others
  • Maintains interdepartmental relationships to increase internal efficiencies and member experience. Develops partnerships with necessary leadership to implement training and support as a matter expert.
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of consumer underwriting experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • High school education or GED
  • Knowledge of regulations, policies and procedures affecting the lending function
  • Experience with loan processing software and data processing systems.
  • Strong customer service skills and great attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and solid organizational skills.
  • Advanced mathematic skills and experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at once.
  • Proficient at coaching and development
  • Demonstrated ability to follow company policies, guidelines, and procedures
  • Build relationships within organization and outside of the organization with like credit union professionals
