The Success Coach is an employee resource that employees can access for one-on-one coaching to assist with identifying their career, education, and life goas, while collaborating internally and externally to create a success plan that will assist in achievement of these goals, (employment, educational, financial coaching, and income support). Assist employees to maximize their potential on the job by supporting and assisting them in gaining employment skills to successfully manage their professional lives.
Requirements for a Friendly Home Success Coach:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule in order to connect personally with team members on all shifts.
- Experience of working with community resources and community service providers with the Monroe and surrounding counties of Rochester. NY.
- Will complete Eden Associate training for the purpose of becoming a Certified Eden Associate.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Education, Counseling, Communications preferred.
- Five to seven years of related work experience in skilled nursing facility preferred.
- Proven experience in counseling, job coaching, or related roles, especially within healthcare or skilled nursing settings.
- Strong understanding of diverse abilities, disabilities, and accommodations in the workplace.
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations related to employment for individuals with diverse abilities.
Responsibilities for a Friendly Home Success Coach:
- Understand the individual's work role and establish career goals and priorities.
- Determine methods for individuals to become motivated and productive team members.
- Assess the work relationships and provide guidance to improve the relationships with others.
- Offer assistance in developing skills that allow the individual to cope with unknown or uncomfortable situations.
- Possess ability and willingness to refer employees appropriately and connect them to outside service providers.
- Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with community partners.
- Possess knowledge of community resources and community service providers with the Monroe and surrounding counties of Rochester. NY.
- Attend community events and professional development training to assist and help grow employees.
- Utilize and apply coaching techniques to provide support, encouragement, and motivate employees towards reaching their career and life goals.
- Identify barriers to employees and brainstorm ways to overcome them.
- Connect with new team members prior to the first day of new hire orientation to establish a relationship, provide clear overview of expectations, and to schedule a time during the first week of employment for a 1-1 meeting.
- In advance of each new hire orientation class, meet personally with the hiring managers who have a new team member starting employment. Review the job expectations, ensure a plan to welcome the new team member to the unit/department, and identify any barriers that need to be addressed prior to the new team member's first day.
- Attend day one of new hire orientation to personally welcome new team members, provide an in-person introduction, and ensure a positive initial experience.
- Following day one, meet personally with the new team member to assess the onboarding experience, answer questions, and provide any clarity needed. Schedule a time for a second check-in meeting within the next two weeks.
- After the first week of employment, meet personally with the hiring manager of each new team member to ensure that the transition from orientation to the unit/department has been successful. Identify any barriers or issues and ensure that there is a way to provide positive reinforcement to the new team member.
- At the two-week meeting, continue to provide guidance and act as a resource to the new team member. Using your assessment skills determine the next time a formal meeting between the Success Coach and the new team member should take place. Schedule the meeting.
- Utilize internal and external resources for free training that will support employees to advance in their career.
- Support in life soft skills.
- Identify, coordinate training to develop life soft skills.
- Support in holistic health goals including mental health.
- During the first six months of each new team member's employment, the Success Coach will combine formal meetings and informal check-ins, along with meetings with the hiring manager to ensure the continued success of the team member. In the event that issues or problems arise, the Success Coach will partner with Human Resources and the hiring manager to put in place appropriate success plans that will allow the new team member to perform at a meaningful level.
- On an ongoing basis, the Coach will be a visible, positive, proactive presence across the organization. The Coach will maintain relationships with all team members as they join the organization and will be a resource to the hiring managers and Human Resources.
- Coach may at times be asked to partner with Human Resources for the purposes of recruitment and/or Public Relations Such as attending job fairs or educational events.
- The ultimate goals of the Coach are:
- Help create a workplace where team members are motivated to do their best work while feeling valued, safe, and appreciated.
- Impact retention in a positive manner by building relationships and providing resources and guidance to our team members.
- Act as a partner to Managers and Supervisors as we continue to build and develop our workforce.
- Identify areas of improvement in our onboarding process, organizational communications, employee engagement, and overall culture.
