Director of Life Enrichment

Full Time Days | 8am-4pm | Some Evenings and Weekends

**Pay Rate up to $26/hr, based on experience**

Responsibilities of a Life Enrichment Assistant:

  • Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of programs and activities offered to residents; makes changes/adaptations as indicated in response to the diverse and individual needs of residents.
  • Provides every opportunity for residents to grow and learn continue participating in life-long hobbies or develop a new one and strive to feel a sense of purpose with each new day.
  • Creates a normal living environment which offers close and continuing contact with family, children, friends, pets, and nature.
  • Provides opportunity for variety, spontaneity, growth, choice, decision making, security, comfort, and new experiences.
  • Conducts one-to-one visits with residents in accordance with programming and residents' needs.
  • Leads programming as needed in the absence of Life Enrichment Staff Associates.
  • Follows-up on resident and/or resident family requests or needs in a timely manner.
  • Ensures the completion of all relevant MDSs, assessment of new residents, and charting quarterly progress notes.
  • Attends and actively participates in various facility meetings as needed or requested.
  • Serves on assigned Committees of the facility and provides written or verbal reports of the department services and activities as required.
  • Communicates with other Directors/Supervisors to adequately plan for departmental services and activities, including the Culinary Services Manager for kitchen support/supplies and the Director of Plant Operations for room set-up.
  • Creates and posts the monthly calendar of events in a timely manner and markets the events to the residents and staff. Notifies residents of schedules and events; encourages residents to attend planned Life Enrichment programs.
  • Drives buses to transport residents to and from recreational trips, tours, and outings, complying with local traffic and safety regulations. Assists residents in and out of buses during recreational outings, following safety practices during all activities.
  • Oversees the Transportation Department; ensuring resident appointments are being received, scheduled, communicated to families, and completed in a safe, timely and professional manner. Working together with the Transportation Coordinator to ensure all transport needs are met and filling in as needed in this department.
  • Understands and participates in emergency drills. Assists residents according to policy, procedure, and regulations.
  • Attends and participates in organizational meetings and training as scheduled.
  • Has the ability to maintain assigned work hours, with flexibility, knowing that each day and each assignment is different.
  • Operates department within approved budget.

Requirements of a Life Enrichment Assistant:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience and/or training as a Recreational Therapist or Activity Assistant; or equivalent combinations of education and experience preferred.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations to residents, family, visitors, and other employees of the organization.
  • Have the ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide. Ability to perform these two operations using units of American money and weight, measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and current CPR.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist or equivalent.
