Williams Consulting, LLC (WCLLC) is seeking a Public Health Technical Writer/Communications Specialist who has experience in federal government contracting. This position is based at our Catonsville, Maryland office and offers a hybrid work environment. The standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.  This position is contingent upon award.

Description

Williams Consulting, LLC is seeking a skilled Public Health Technical Writer/Communications Specialist with enterprise-wide experience in driving process and business quality assurance and integrity efforts across multiple programs for the Federal government. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing documentation to support projects for federal agencies. The ideal candidate will ensure timely delivery of critical information, track readership, and contribute to the development of various reports and electronic materials.

 

 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write short, visually appealing content on public health topics.
  • Track readership metrics to assess content effectiveness.
  • Develop recommendation papers based on research and findings.
  • Support communications planning, development of materials, and stakeholders education.
  • Create and review reports, training materials, surveys and documentation to ensure accuracy, clarity and adherence to standards and guidelines.
  • Analyze, author, or edit business and technical documents.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather information for documentation development.
  • Develop visually engaging graphics to enhance documentation, training and newsletters.
  • Produce electronic materials, ensuring 508 compliance for accessibility.
  • Develop, edit, and proofread project deliverables and communications for accuracy, consistency and clarity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

  Qualifications and Experience

  • A./B.S. degree in Public Health, Communications, Journalism or a related field
  • A minimum of 8 years’ proven experience in technical writing, communications, within the public health sector.
  • Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP and Marketplace health plans preferred.
  • Experience in federal government contracting is a plus.
  • Proficiency in tracking readership metrics and using data for content optimization.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise messaging.
  • Strong graphic design skills with proficiency in graphics software.
  • Exceptional plain language writing and editing skills with an eye for detail.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to providing high-quality service.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and efficient time management.
  • Knowledge of health equity, healthcare industry standards, regulations, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced understanding of and ability to conform to Section 508 requirements.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism and a positive work ethic in all situations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to respond effectively to changing events and competing priorities.
  • Background investigation required.
  • Ability to pass Federal Public Trust clearance.

Working Conditions and Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The position involves standing, sitting, squatting, and other normal office-related physical activities. Must be able to sit and read computer screens for extended periods.
