Job Description: The Instructional Technology Coaches play a pivotal role as the primary point of contact for schools and educators within Native American communities, addressing digital learning needs and inquiries in support of the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE).
The BIE provides support for the education of Native American Indian children in grades K-12 throughout 183 BIE-managed and Tribally-controlled schools, and two Native American colleges. The Strategic Transformation of Education Plan (STEP) is an initiative to provide support and resources for students, teachers and BIE-managed and Tribally-controlled schools.
Responsibilities include promoting and supporting the effective integration of instructional technology and digital resources in schools, requiring innovative thinking and a profound understanding of instructional technology tools. The coaches Responsibilities:
Main Point of Contact:
- Serve as the primary contact for schools and educators in the assigned community regarding digital learning needs, instructional technology tools, and digital resources.
- Provide prompt and effective support, addressing inquiries, technical issues, and guiding educators in utilizing digital tools for instruction.
Digital Learning Research and Recommendations:
- Stay updated on emerging trends, research, and best practices in instructional technology and digital learning.
- Recommend innovative solutions for integrating technology in teaching and learning based on research and pedagogical principles.
- Collaborate with educators and school leaders to identify digital learning needs, develop strategies, and implement digital tools and resources.
Professional Development:
- Provide guidance and support for educators' professional development related to instructional technology and digital learning.
- Conduct training sessions, workshops, and provide resources to help educators develop skills and confidence in using digital tools effectively.
- Share knowledge and best practices for leveraging digital resources to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Collaborate with school leaders, educators, and stakeholders to align instructional technology initiatives and strategies.
- Participate in meetings and trainings to share insights, contribute to continuous improvement of digital learning practices, and ensure effective coordinator with other educators and support staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certificate with a minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience in a K-12 educational setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing instructional technology tools, applications, and digital resources.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively support and collaborate with educators, school leaders, and stakeholders.
- Innovative thinking and the ability to recommend and implement technology solutions that enhance teaching and learning.
- Up-to-date knowledge of emerging trends, research, and best practices in instructional technology and digital learning.
- Ability to work independently, manage me effectively, and prioritize responsibilities to fulfill Innovation Coach dues.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with technology solutions implementation in an educational context.
Education and Experience:
- Valid teaching certificate and a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in a K-12 educational setting.
- 3+ years as an administrator or in a similar coach type role
