Position Information
Title: Director of Behavioral Health
FLSA Status: Hourly, Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Overview (what unique role does this position play within Rod’s House?)
The Director of Behavioral Health leads a team providing youth-centered, early intervention services aimed at identifying the skills young people have to regulate their emotions, work through complex traumas, and gain coping mechanisms. This role supports Behavioral Health Specialists within each Rod’s House program to implement trauma-informed education, provide peer mediation between young people, and facilitate crisis interventions. This role develops new behavioral health services to meet the needs of young people accessing Rod’s House programs. Responsibilities extend to clinical oversight, managing budgets, keeping program statistics, monitoring program compliance, and expanding mental/behavioral health services across Yakima County.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategy
Provide organizational leadership focused on improving behavioral health services offered at each Rod’s House program;
Evaluate programs through collaborative input concerning all treatment activities and interventions facilitated at Rod’s House;
Develop, implement, and streamline evidence-based interventions to meet the unique needs of young people accessing Rod’s House programs;
Build relationships with community agencies and other behavioral health providers to maximize referral resources for young people;
Enhance relationships with local and virtual masters programs in order to host masters level students for their practicums;
Coordinate contracted mental/behavioral health services, as needed;
Manage program budget, licensing, compliance issues, and statistical data collection for behavioral health services;
Develop policies, processes, procedures, and systems that meet regulatory requirements and enhance behavioral health services;
Collaborate with Directors of Programs to establish and maintain restorative-justice based accountability systems within each program;
Conduct youth-based conflict resolution and peer mediation, as needed.
Supervision
Provide clinical supervision, training, and support to Behavioral Health Specialists within each program;
Meet with behavioral health staff on a regular basis to review clinical records and to assess young people’s progress;
Research and implement evidence-based intakes and assessments for behavioral health services within all programs;
Manage the recruitment and hiring process for all behavioral health staff;
Participate in collaborative treatment planning with behavioral health staff to address complex situations involving youth, as needed;
Participate in local and state meetings related to mental health and substance use disorders;
Develop and monitor statistics for review and presentations, as needed.
Organizational Support
Educate staff and volunteers on purpose of specific interventions provided within programs;
Provide clinical expertise and training to all staff;
Collaborate with leadership to implement regularly-scheduled social-emotional support for staff;
Support Behavioral Health Interns in successfully completing their practicum requirements.
Other Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and quality documentation in Rod’s House databases;
Create performance reports, as needed;
Facilitate and participate in program, department, and agency meetings;
Facilitate and participate in relevant trainings;
Facilitate and participate in local and state interagency work groups, as needed.
Complete all duties as assigned and other duties as required.
Required or Preferred Education and Experience
Licensed, Masters-level degree in mental health field (e.g. social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatry) (required);
2 years experience supervising behavioral health staff (required);
3 years post-graduate clinical experience facilitating therapeutic interventions to young people (ages 13-24) (required);
Proven knowledge of evidence-based, therapeutic interventions and modalities for individual and group practices (required);
An understanding of and adherence to a strengths-based philosophy with youth and young adults (required);
Dedication to promoting an inclusive and diverse workplace through competency in equity, race, social justice, differently-abled, and LGBTQIA2S+ identities (required);
Bilingual (Spanish-English) (strongly preferred);
Previous work with individuals holding significant trauma, including those with lived experience of homelessness (preferred);
Lived experience relevant to the population served (preferred).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be at least 21 years of age (required);
Pass a Washington State criminal background check (required);
Pass a Federal (FBI) criminal background check (required);
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance is (required);

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
Physical requirements for the position include frequent walking, hearing, seeing, speaking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, climbing, repetitive motions, as well as prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. This position could require exerting up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, pull, or move objects.
Rod’s House will reasonably accommodate qualified individuals with a disability so that they can perform the essential functions of a job unless doing so causes a direct threat to these individuals or others in the workplace and the threat cannot be eliminated by reasonable accommodation or if the accommodation creates an undue hardship to Rod’s House.
Salary/Compensation and Benefits
Starting hourly wage of $28.84 - $33.65 per hour, depending on knowledge and experience;
Eligible for up to $8,000 per year towards maintaining license;
40 hours per week, Monday-Friday;
Within 30 days, employer pays medical (90%), dental (90%), and vision (90%) insurance;
Eligible to receive up to a yearly 5% raise based on annual performance review;
10 paid Washington state holidays;
15 days of paid time off granted immediately after 90 days, increasing by 5 days every 2 years;
2 hours of sick pay accrued every 40 hours worked;
FREE CPR/First Aid Certification;
FREE CPI (non-violent crisis intervention) Certification;
FREE WA State Food Handler Permit;
Ongoing program specific training and professional development training;
