+ Position Overview

MxD is seeking a Government Engagement Associate for activities managed within the Government Engagement and Strategy team. The Government Engagement and Strategy team is charged with the development and management of government stakeholder relationships, including federal, state, and local agencies and officials, and the execution of day-to-day activities for MxD’s government initiatives critical to advancing the Institute’s mission. The responsibilities of this role include responding to government requests, supporting virtual and in-person programs, government and policy research, process creation and implementation, and other programmatic support as required. The Associate will be responsible for working internally to ensure all assigned tasks are managed effectively from beginning to end. This position will report to the Director of Government Engagement.

+ Position Responsibilities

  • Ability to balance multiple internal and external requests, articulate trade-offs for competing priorities, and appropriately identify and escalate issues to ensure delivery of high-value project deliverables
  • Utilize effective project and program management skills coordinate and organize project objectives, timelines, deliverables, team accountability, and communication
  • Research and succinctly synthesize government positions, priorities, and policy objectives related to digital manufacturing, cybersecurity, and workforce development
  • Use CRM tools and data to support and track government engagement and projects
  • Coordinate MxD grant development efforts with key internal and external collaborators
  • Facilitate select government stakeholder meetings, lead agenda creation, and meeting follow-up in coordination with key internal teams
  • Assist with ad hoc organizational initiatives and duties as needed

+ Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in or relevant work experience in Political Science, Government Relations, or similar discipline
  • Minimum two years of program, project, and/or government engagement experience
  • Ability to work onsite at least 3 days per week to support member events at MxD and attend staff meetings
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in handling multiple projects concurrently and working cross-functionally
  • Prior experience planning in-person and virtual events
  • Aptitude in synthesizing information into cohesive, accurate, and succinct writing
  • Proven experience shifting priorities quickly while maintaining organization and ability to problem solve
  • Proficiency with MS Office, CRM software (e.g., HubSpot) and familiarity with project management software (e.g., Monday.com)
  • Ability and desire to work in a highly dynamic and mission-driven environment
  • Excellent ability to communicate clearly and interact expertly with executive-level and stakeholders and government officials
