General Purpose

Lead and manage all activities related to government funding. This includes overseeing the grant portfolio, preparing vouchers, allocating grant revenues, and ensuring compliance with audits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Vouchering: Coordinate the vouchering processes with the Finance Team for city, state, and federal grants.
  • Financial Reporting: Ensure timely submissions to all grant funders, including monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Financial Liaison: Act as the primary financial contact for various funding agencies.
  • Research and Development: Participate in relevant webinars to enhance understanding and compliance with grant requirements.
  • Budgeting: Develop fiscal budgets for individual grants and the overall government grants budget.
  • Audits: Conduct federal expenditure audits and other assigned audit tasks.
  • Indirect Cost Rate Application: Prepare and submit the application annually in collaboration with the Finance Team.
  • Meetings and Training: Attend Finance department meetings, training sessions, and one-on-one meetings with supervisors.
  • Journal Entries: Collaborate with the Finance Team to create accounting journal entries as part of the vouchering process.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with government agency staff overseeing funded programs.
  • External Engagement: Participate in external committees, forums, training sessions, and other gatherings related to government grants.
  • 990 Preparation: Assist with the preparation of annual 990 forms.
  • Backup Resource: Provide backup support for check deposits, printing, and payroll submissions.
  • Grant Writing Assistance: Support the renewal, amendment, and contracting processes for government grants.
  • Contract Abstraction: Create summary documents for renewals, contracts, and amendments.
  • Programmatic Knowledge: Gain a thorough understanding of The Night Ministry's programmatic functions and objectives.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience with government grants.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and filing capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint (O365).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple government agencies and TNM personnel.
  • Capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple competing deadlines; occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong independent judgment and problem-solving abilities.
Nonessential Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in non-profit organizations.
  • Familiarity with Paylocity, Great Plains, iSupplier, or similar systems.

Compensation Range: $54,000-57,000

Additional Information:

Physical Demands: The physical requirements for this role may include occasional standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, and stooping. Frequent tasks may involve using hands, handling objects, tools, or controls. Regularly, the employee will be required to talk or listen.

Benefits: Full-time staff are entitled to comprehensive benefits after 30 days of employment, including medical, dental, vision, 401k, and more.

Work Environment: The Night Ministry offers flexible remote work options on a case-by-case basis, allowing for up to 1 to 2 days of remote work per week with supervisor approval. General office hours are expected to be between 9 am and 5 pm.
