We work collaboratively within our community to develop a comprehensive network to enhance the lives of the people we serve.

Who you are:

A proven and passionate leader, committed to serving our individuals and families, and the organization. You will provide leadership to the Residential Services team. The Director of Residential Services reports to the Assistant Executive Director and will ensure the execution and success of Residential Services to meet the needs of the individuals and families we serve in the community. The Residential Director will work to build relationships to support the mission, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.

Examples of Work Performed:

    • Listens to those receiving services and supports them in the areas that are important to them, demonstrating respect & dignity.
    • So that those receiving services have consistent support to meet their needs, assures residential placements/homes are effectively operated per appropriate guidelines/regulations.
    • Supports the teams of those receiving services to develop plans/strategies that provide individualized & appropriate skill development by being an active team member providing input and support.
    • To enhance the effectiveness of services delivered, works to ensure cooperative efforts among in house programs and staff, all outside agencies/service providers (e.g., service coordination, day programs, job development, finance staff, quality assurance staff etc.), resolving any identified discrepancies/conflicts.
    • To ensure those receiving services have effective supports, provides direct supervision of the Medical Staff, Residential Coordinator and the CRCF Administrator(s).
    • Assists in the development of natural resources/supports to enhance quality of life and community involvement and integration.
    • Recommends administrative policies and procedures to promote effective outcome-based services for those supported.
    • Participates in the identification of individuals needing support through residential services and assure effective facilitation of the placement process.
    • Assures appropriate/needed training/staff development for individuals working in the residential programs.
    • Recruits/trains new members of the Human Rights Committee as well as facilitates meetings, to assure advocacy of rights is maintained for consumers.
    • Works collaboratively and provides regular input with the chosen provider of behavior supports, assuring consumer rights and behavior needs are adequately addressed.
    • Monitors and inputs data into the Therap Electronic Records Keeping system. Assures information is accurate and timely.
    • Updates the Social Security Administration as needed and oversees the application for SSA, and SSI as needed.
    • Complete all necessary Medicaid and Medicare forms.
    • Responsible for initiating and coordinating the licensing process for all HCDSN residential options.
    • Oversees the management of funds for individuals participating in community residential programs in accordance with SCDDSN guidelines and directives. This would include but not necessarily be limited to resident checking accounts, STABLE accounts, DSS food stamp applications and recertifications, and pooled fund trust activity.
    • Reconciles and audits resident receivables, grocery receipts, and pharmacy bills looking for discrepancies.
    • Coordinates with all departments the annual Tornado Drill and the Hurricane Evacuation Drill.
    • Carries a phone & is on-call for emergency intervention 24 hours/day.
    • Other duties as assigned/negotiated by/with the Assistant Executive Director.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of intellectual and related disabilities, head and spinal cord injuries, and autism; their development, and normalization.
  • Proven experience in other managerial positions.
  • Knowledge of personnel management and best practices.
  • General knowledge of finance accountability and measures of performance.
  • Outstanding organization and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and public speaking skills.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Human Servies or related field with a minimum of one year experience in the management of Residential Servies or.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field with at least 3-5 years' experience in the management of residential services for individuals with intellectual disabilities or a related field.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $58,000 to $60,500 annually, commensurate with work experience.
  • Benefits: The Director of Residential Services is entitled to the organization’s benefits package to include accrual of Annual Leave, Sick Leave, and paid Holidays after his/her 31st days of full-time employment, as set forth in Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual. Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance coverage is available through the South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority. Coverages offered are for Employee Only, Employee and Spouse, Employee and Children, and Employee and Family. A list of premiums is available through Human Resources. All fulltime employees are required to participate in the South Carolina Retirement Systems Pension Program. The current percentage contribution is 9% per pay period. The South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority also offers 401k plans, however there is no employer match.
