Position Title: Residential Care Shift Manager
Position Overview: The Residential Care Shift Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of direct care personnel within a state-managed facility. This role is governed by applicable state and federal regulations as well as agency policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative leadership to direct care staff by managing and assessing project assignments, interpreting laws and policies to address issues, and ensuring the safety and well-being of clients in accordance with legal standards.
- Deliver direct care services to clients as necessary during shifts.
- Conduct training and supervision for direct care staff on techniques for de-escalation, identifying triggers, and minimizing restraints.
- Investigate complaints and allegations of abuse or neglect, review administrative issues, and prepare recommendations for action.
- Monitor the material and equipment needs of staff and clients to aid in budget formulation and justification.
- Represent the agency at community meetings, hearings, and seminars.
- Provide technical support to staff and families regarding agency operations and programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of state and federal regulations governing long-term care facilities and human resources management principles.
- Familiarity with supervisory practices and procedures.
- Ability to train staff on relevant laws and techniques for effective client care.
- Capability to evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Skill in conducting inspections to ensure compliance with applicable laws and guidelines.
- Proficiency in researching information and presenting findings in both written and verbal formats.
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a diploma or completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant program, along with three years of experience in direct patient care, including one year in a supervisory role.
Licensure: Must obtain certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Arkansas within six months of employment.
