Purpose:


Hope The Mission’s Tiny Home Village/Cabin Community Interim Housing program provides a safe, low-barrier, and supportive 24-hour residence to persons experiencing homelessness. Clients will receive shelter, food, case management & housing navigation services to support them in obtaining permanent housing. Working under the supervision of the Director of Tiny Home Villages/Cabin Communities, the Overnight Program Coordinator will provide overnight support to Tiny Home Village/Cabin Community sites. The Overnight Program Coordinator will monitor overnight staff, complete daily logs & reports, provide de-escalation and guidance on crises, facilitate coordination of services, and ensure that all facilities are clean, sanitized and well maintained. The Overnight Program Coordinator will provide support to a team of shelter support staff. Driving is required for this position: 25% travel.


Specific Duties-Programmatic


  1. Provide oversight of operational components including accurate, up-to-date data collection, quality assurance and contract management adhering to guidelines set in the Scope of Required Services and standards. Includes but is not limited to:

  2. Ensure program/contract compliance as per guidelines and requirements mandated by LAHSA for interim housing programs, regularly reviewing logs, records, and data.

  3. Assist with client crises as needed (conflicts and complaint resolution) using de-escalation and mediation techniques.

  4. Ensure implementation of housing first, harm reduction and trauma informed care methodologies when appropriate.

  1. Provide feedback to leadership staff on service delivery to enhance the program model.

  2. Assist with Interim Housing tracking and data entry as needed, including attendance logs, daily shift logs, census reports and other documentation.

  3. Provide emergency service referrals (e.g. domestic violence, human trafficking & sexual assault, etc.) and warm handoff referrals when appropriate.

  4. In collaboration with the program leadership staff, provide direction and training to overnight shelter support staff and the corresponding job duties assigned to each position.
  5. Maintain accurate and complete staff timesheets, daily activity logs (if applicable), HMIS-Clarity participant records and other reports as directed.
  6. Establish and maintain positive, productive working relationships with clients, staff, community partners and community stakeholders including mental health programs, shelter programs, local law enforcement, local neighborhood councils (and other local officials), and providers of services and resources to homeless persons.
  7. Attend staff meetings, case conferences, training workshops, and community meetings as needed.
  8. Ready to sub another’s role if needed due to absence.
  9. Monitor medication cabinet and review all medication records.
  10. Review shift reports to monitor staff performance and compliance.
  11. Submit and follow-up on all incident reports.
  12. Take inventory of site needs and submit facility maintenance, IT, and supply order requests.
  13. Make daily site visits to each site to ensure that overnight staff are completing their tasks as well as support staff and clients during crises.
  14. Complete daily facility checks and submit facility reports to leadership staff
  15. Submit daily activity reports to leadership staff and effectively communicate on-site activities.
  16. Facilitate overnight shift transition meetings to ensure appropriate communication with morning and evening staff.
  17. Provide staff coverage as needed.


Specific Duties-Operations


  1. Ensure that Tiny Home Village/Cabin Community property and its surroundings is well maintained and clean.

  2. Regularly inspect bathroom facilities to verify clean, sanitary conditions.

  3. Report any maintenance issues or need for repairs to supervisor in a timely fashion.

  4. Regularly inspect facility and Tiny Homes to ensure they are in working order.

  5. Train shelter support staff in proper protocol for site/bathroom maintenance.

  6. Submit all supply orders or facility requests in a timely fashion.

  7. Oversee the maintenance of shelter linen, clothing, and supply rooms.

  8. Ensure monthly safety and fire drills are conducted.


Other Duties


  1. Performs any other duties, projects and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor(s).

  2. Work with collaboration with outsourced security guard to ensure safety of participants, staff, volunteers and visitors on the property. Report any incidents to security guard supervisor.

  3. Trains staff on use of security and surveillance systems.

  4. Observe department guidelines to conduct personal business during breaks and meal periods.

  5. Project a positive professional image and adheres to organizational dress code.

  6. Self-identify potentially unsafe systems/processes/situations and takes initiative to report to manager/supervisor.

  7. Observe department guidelines concerning staff and client absences and reports such absences in accordance with departmental procedures.

  8. Establish and/or maintain good rapport and working arrangements with co-workers, including the management team and supporting staff.

Position reports to: Director of Tiny Home Villages/Cabin Communities

Performance Review: Annual


Minimum Qualifications


  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in program and/or staff supervision; knowledge of homeless populations and services, government assistance programs, housing placement, case management procedures, contract and fiscal management preferred.

  • Homeless service & case management experience preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or other related fields preferred.

  • Skills- Commitment to working with homeless individuals in a harm reduction, trauma-informed care setting. Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity towards individuals experiencing crisis.

  • Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills; ability to engage a diverse group of participants, team-members and volunteers

  • Computer literacy- Microsoft Office Suite, HMIS experience preferred.

  • Spanish preferred.

Work Environment:


The employee may be in contact with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using alcohol and drugs, and who may not be attentive to basic personal hygiene, health and safety practices. The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the clients use of alcohol and drugs, and lack of personal hygiene. The employee must be ready to respond quickly and effectively to many types of situations, including crisis situations and potentially hostile situations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in an office setting. Sometimes work may become stressful when working under pressure.
