Job Title: Engineering Support Lead
Reports To: Director of Engineering
The Engineering Support Lead is responsible for managing the daily execution of engineering support staff, engineering project material management, capital infrastructure project execution and continuous improvement of engineering work processes.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High School diploma and 10+ years’ experience manufacturing technical products. B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years’ experience manufacturing technical products preferred. Other combinations of equivalent academic and professional work experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience. Ability to lead a team in a cross-functional matrix, work proactively, prioritize work effectively, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience using Solidworks or other 3D CAD modeling software.
- Capable of reading engineering drawings & translating product requirements to production.
- Demonstrated ability to author clear, concise instructions for work processes, purchasing specification and manufacturing methods.
- Able to communicate effectively within all levels of the organization
Job Responsibilities
- Lead a team of mechanical designers, engineering technicians and other support staff in their daily execution. Set performance goals and author performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Prepares schedules for incoming work and coordinates work priorities with requesting departments.
- ERP system data entry for part numbers, bills of material and method of manufacturing.
- Establishes and maintains design drafting practices consistent with company policies to develop designs from sketches, specification, instructions and related information.
- Performs and schedules revision to engineering documents in compliance with approved company standards.
- Plan, schedule and execute capital projects to improve test capacity/capability of engineering laboratory, enhance office facilities, etc.
- Primary responsibility for procurement, receipt and storage of engineering project material. Develop & maintain engineering project material storage strategy.
- Primary responsibility for engineering laboratory infrastructure: utilization, organization and cleanliness.
- Continuous improvement of engineering work processes, improving overall productivity and capacity of the engineering department.
Beneficial Skills & Attributes
- Thorough knowledge of computer aided design (CAD), drafting standards, geometric tolerancing, PDM, etc.
- Expertise with business systems (ERP, MRP, PDM) and their integration.
- Knowledge of vacuum and cryogenic systems, cryogenic refrigeration products and cryogenic instrumentation.
- Experience working in an ISO 9001:2015 QMS system
