Job Description:
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Safety Officer to join our team and oversee safety activities on two major construction projects in the heavy highway industry. As the Safety Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of safety programs, promoting a strong safety culture, and managing safety reporting for the projects.

Key Responsibilities:
1.  Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures in alignment with company policies and industry regulations and best practices.
2. Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and job site visits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
3. Provide guidance and support to project managers, supervisors, and employees on safety practices and procedures.
4. Lead safety meetings and training sessions to promote awareness and education on safety issues.
5. Collaborate with project teams to develop safety plans and strategies for each phase of the construction projects.
6. Oversee the investigation of safety incidents and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
7. Manage safety reporting and documentation, including incident reports, safety records, and compliance reports.
8. Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies related to safety in construction.
9. Drive a strong safety culture through communication, engagement, and recognition of safety achievements.

Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in heavy highway construction or related industry.
2. Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
3. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
4. Experience in conducting safety training, inspections, and incident investigations.
5. Proficiency in safety reporting tools and systems.
6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Team player with a commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement, and excellence.


Required Skills:

1. Practical knowledge of OSHA laws, regulations and policies

2. Strong organizational and prioritizing skills

3. Ability to multi-task

4. Computer skills MS Excel and Word software programs.

5. Efficient verbal and written communication

6. Accurate data entry and accurate calculation of mathematical problems

7. Higher level, complex analysis and interpretation required for problem solving

8. Ability to work with teams and other divisions

9. Independent judgment required using existing guidelines to determine work methods

10. Knowledge of internet research

11. Ability to develop and cultivate long-term relationships with consultants
