Job Summary:

Assist with the development and implementation of DVCCC’s comprehensive, integrated development plan to include local, state, federal, foundation, corporate, and individual support. Clearly articulate DVCCC’s mission, vision, and program in grant development.

Apply for and receive institutional (government, foundation, United Ways, and corporate grants). Prepare proposals and grant applications and performance reports. Research, identify, develop, and respond to public and private grant opportunities to support DVCCC’s programs and services. Ensure receipt, recording, and recognition of grants from institutional funders in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the staff leadership team. Maintain updated records of institutional funder donations and stewardship activities.

Funding Strategy and Management:

The Director of Institutional Giving is responsible for all activities associated with applying for and receiving institutional grants and fulfilling DVCCC’s annual institutional funding goals. This includes the following activities:

•Maintain strict confidentiality of all clients, staff, and board personnel and financial information; keep donor information confidential as required by non-profit standards.

•Work with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Director of Relationships and Individual Giving and Board Development and Finance Committees to develop annual institutional fundraising plan and budget, including goals and strategies for securing government, foundation, United Ways and corporate grants.

•Develop and update schedule of grant applications and reporting timelines for current and potential funders.

•Write grant letters of interest and applications, compile all required materials and submit.

•Ensure receipt, recording, and recognition of grants from institutional funders.

•Prepare required grant reports.

•In partnership with the CEO and staff leadership team ensure the execution of government grant contracts, as well as foundation, United Ways and corporate agreements.

•Maintain updated records of institutional funder donations and stewardship activities.

Collaboration

Achieving DVCCC’s institutional funding goals requires effective collaboration and accountability with other internal staff members through the following activities:

•Consult early with CEO and leadership staff members and collaborate about materials they need to prepare for an application or report.

•Work with the CEO, CFO and leadership team to prepare organizational and project budgets for applications and financial reports for grant reports.

•Participate in team meetings, planning meetings, and project development meetings.

•Contribute to the preparation of annual and project reports.

•Keep the Director of Relationships and Individual Giving and Director of Education informed of grants as they are awarded so that they may be recognized on social media.

•Attend fundraising and other events that may occur on nights and weekends.

Institutional Relationships

The Institutional Giving Director is responsible for building and strengthening relationships with potential and current institutional funders through the following activities:

•Establish and maintain relationships between institutional funders, the CEO, CFO, staff leadership team and Board Members

•Attend meetings and events organized by or featuring institutional partners.

•Conduct regular communication with current and potential partners to update them on DVCCC goals and invite them to DVCCC’s events.

•Develop new opportunities to deepen relationships with current and potential funders.

•Develop a method of engaging Board members and other major supporters in stewardship activities.

•Participate in the fundraising community through professional development opportunities, networking and memberships.

Teamwork

•Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings.

Physical Requirements:

•Much of the work performed is sedentary in nature yet may require the employee to exert themselves with minimal force and/or be able lift or move light objects associated with the job responsibilities.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

•Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, creative writing or a related area.

•A minimum of two years’ experience in grant writing

•Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process

•Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the organization.

•Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources

•Multitasking, organizational and time management skills

•Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity.

•Working knowledge of computers

•A knowledge base, education or training specific to domestic violence is preferred. HR use only
