Hometown Cafe & Poké Bar is seeking experienced shift leaders/supervisors to join our tight knit team and grow with our business. We are currently looking to staff our NEW location East Greenwich with strong leaders. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, committed to delivering exceptional customer service, have a strong sense of urgency, be comfortable directing a team, and have a positive attitude.

As a member of the Hometown team, you will bring a positive attitude and be willing to help with any task, no matter how big or small. We are a tight-knit family that is passionate about the Hometown values, serving quality food, and providing great customer service. We hope you’ll fit right into our weird, but loving family and embody our same values.

Minimum 35-45 hours a week and Current valid Food Safety or ServSafe Manager Certification is REQUIRED for this position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Effectively running designated shift and performing any and all duties to ensure the smooth operation of the restaurant and/or food truck
  • Train, coach, and develop employees and team leaders
  • Delegate tasks to team and provide follow-up
  • Hold team accountable for their performance; provide coaching and counseling as needed
  • Ensure team provides fast, friendly, and accurate service
  • Ensure product quality, restaurant cleanliness, maintenance and security standards are met
  • Staff and schedule appropriately to control labor costs
  • Ensure proper cash handling and deposit procedures are followed
  • Ensure appropriate inventory and ordering systems are in place
  • Ensuring food safety, quality and accuracy of orders
  • Effectively handling guests' needs and/or complaints
  • Providing training, coaching and direction to team members during assigned shift
  • Creating and managing staff weekly schedule and team availability
  • Managing online deliveries and troubleshooting order issues
  • Opening/closing cash drawer and making weekly deposits
  • Managing opening and closing checklists
  • Ensuring dining room, kitchen, and bathrooms are clean and well-stocked at all times
  • Placing orders, and receiving and checking deliveries
  • Managing inventory, making shopping lists, and doing Restaurant Depot runs
  • Overseeing proper product preparation, rotation (FIFO), portioning, cooking and holding times, and refrigeration logs
  • Ensuring that health and safety standards are followed at all time

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Shift management in the restaurant industry
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly disposition
  • Excellent communication skills to connect effectively with customers and co-workers
  • Possess a positive attitude and ethics which support our values and culture
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced, high-volume, clean, customer-focused restaurant
  • Strong time-management skills; ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize
  • Thorough understanding of poké ingredients and an ability to articulate our menu offerings after initial training
  • Punctual and reliable – tardiness and missed shifts are not tolerated
  • Ability to remain calm and work quickly when there is a rush of customers
  • Availability to work during store hours (daily 10am-9pm)
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
  • ServSafe certified or Food handler/manager certificate REQUIRED
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Drivers license and a good driving record
  • Demonstrates initiative and proactive when running shifts
  • Flexible availability with the opportunity to assist with external events and catering with our Food Trucks
  • Shows leadership and dedication to development and growth of others
  • Understanding of business needs to manage staffing levels
  • Completing produce and truck orders in a timely manner
  • Experienced in managing and supervising a team
