As a Project Engineer in our NEME Group, you will:

  • Be a strong contributor on a team tasked with delivering infrastructure and civil engineering projects which includes site design, grading, stormwater management and treatment design, sanitary sewer system design
  • Be responsible for preparation of calculations, layouts, modeling, estimates, drawings, and specifications under the direction of senior engineers and project managers.
  • Lead and guide junior engineers and CADD teammates.
  • Work as part of an integrated, multi-discipline team to solve technical challenges.
  • Use software and other tools to develop designs and organize work.
  • Gather, research, and maintain engineering data records including tests, drawings, and field data.
  • May attend site visits and meetings with clients and contractors.
  • May be responsible for construction observation and limited administration.
  • Read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrate strong writing and communication skills.
  • Increase knowledge through continuous learning within and outside the organization including pursuit of an advanced engineering degree.

The successful candidate will have experience with plan production, specification writing, engineering analysis, task management in a project engineer role, and possess strong oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, HydroCAD, and other related design civil design software is desired.


This position is based out of our New Hampshire and Vermont offices (Portsmouth, NH, Manchester, NH, Burlington, VT) and is a hybrid remote position opportunity. As an Engineer you will:

  • Play a primary role in an integrated, multi-discipline team that solves technical challenges on projects of significant scope, size and difficulty.
  • Complete assignments accurately and on time with limited direction from the Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Develop an understanding of project budget, scope of services, project development, project schedule; provide updates and recommendations to the Project Manager in maintaining schedule and budget.
  • Understand the client's organization, key people, and client expectations.
  • Share best practices to improve performance and efficiency of self/team.
  • Develop person-hour estimates/budgets with guidance from senior staff.
  • Lead small team for moderately complex projects.
  • Assist in proposal efforts and development.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and feedback to develop entry-level and staff engineers, peers and others as needed.
  • Conduct site visits and participate in or lead meetings with clients/contractors.
  • Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills for deliverables, proposals, and presentation in a public setting (for clients or at seminars/conferences).
Requirements:

Qualified Candidates

  • BS or MS degree
  • 4-9 years of experience
  • PE Licensure in one or more of the following: NH, VT with ability to obtain reciprocal licenses in other New England states.
