Acts as purchasing agent for the Royal Metal Powders plant and is responsible for ordering alloys, consumable and packaging. Prepares, reviews, negotiates and administers contracts and purchase orders. Maintains orderly storage of spare parts, for Engineering and Maintenance Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Develops and implements purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures in coordination with corporate purchasing department

2. Meets with vendors to negotiate improved pricing, product quality, and delivery

3. Works in coordination with production planners to ensure proper inventory of material and supplies are maintained

4. Creates purchase order in GP, approves company purchase orders and monitor receipt of purchases

5. Works with Customs Broker, provides documentation and schedules incoming freight of overseas material

6. Responsible for maintaining internal purchasing specifications for inventory supplies and material

7. Works in coordination with quality/technical department to ensure PDRs are completed for discrepancies

8. Conducts annual supplier evaluations via supplier questionnaire and/or other methods in compliance with ISO 9001.

9. Maintains vendor files with appropriate documentation

10. Reviews and approves invoices and submits them to accounting department for processing

11. Oversees computerized parts catalog system and maintains a running inventory of regular and special-order parts and supplies

12. Works with Maintenance Team Leader to assure sufficient parts inventory

Requirements:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Associates Degree in Business, Finance or related field and two years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

2. Without a degree; four years of relevant experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

4. Good critical thinking and interpersonal skills, organizational abilities and strong attention to detail

5. Proficient in Microsoft Office software to include: Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint

6. Experience with ERP system

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Ability to lift weights of up to 50 pounds

2. Manual dexterity

3. Periodic standing, sitting and walking

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. Manufacturing environment

2. Work near moving mechanical parts

3. Possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles

4. Possible exposure to outdoor weather conditions
