Join our vibrant team at CDCW, a dedicated childcare facility renowned for its commitment to providing exceptional care and educational services. We operate two specialized buildings: our main preschool facility and the Avenues building, which caters to our afterschool program participants. We pride ourselves on creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for children from the local community, serving 10 elementary schools in the area.


Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a proactive and organized Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of our Avenues Program. This role is central to ensuring the smooth functioning of our afterschool program and requires a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic, child-focused environment.


Key Responsibilities:

- Coordinate daily staff scheduling to ensure all classrooms are adequately covered.
- Manage front desk operations, including answering phones, tending to children's needs,  and maintaining a clean and welcoming reception area.
- Act as the primary point of contact for parents in building, fostering strong relationships and ensuring effective communication regarding student pick-up and program updates.
- Oversee the dismissal of students, ensuring each child is safely released to authorized individuals.
- Close the Avenues front desk daily, performing end-of-day administrative tasks and preparing the area for the next day.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining office supplies and equipment.
- Support Director and program staff with logistical and clerical needs.
- Handle any emergencies that arise in a calm and efficient manner.


Work Hours:
Monday to Friday from 2:00 PM to closing. Closing times are 6:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 5:30 PM on Fridays. Please note that the position requires staying approximately 10 minutes past closing to complete closing duties.


Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; further education or certification in administration is a plus.
- Previous experience in an administrative role, ideally within a childcare or educational setting, preferred.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with learning new software as required.
