The Opportunity: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Medical Receptionist to join our team. The Clinical Medical Receptionist plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth patient flow and providing excellent customer service in a clinical setting. This individual must be able to work some weekday evening shifts and rotational weekends.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Patient Check-In and Check-Out:
    • Greet patients upon arrival, verify demographic and insurance information, and assist with check-in procedures.
    • Schedule appointments, collect co-pays, and provide patients with necessary forms and information.
  • Patient Coordination and Communication:
    • Assist patients in navigating the healthcare system, scheduling follow-up appointments, and obtaining referrals as needed.
    • Communicate with patients, healthcare providers, and other staff members in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Medical Records Management:
    • Maintain and update patient medical records, including entering demographic information, medical history, and treatment plans into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of patient records, following established protocols and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Insurance Verification and Billing Support:
    • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, obtain pre-authorizations for services, and assist with billing inquiries as needed.
    • Work closely with the billing department to ensure accurate coding and billing practices.
  • Clinical Support:
    • Assist healthcare providers with rooming patients, taking vital signs, and preparing examination rooms for patient visits.
    • Provide basic medical assistance, such as performing EKGs, administering injections, or conducting point-of-care testing, under the direction of healthcare providers.
  • Patient Education and Support:
    • Educate patients about medical procedures, treatment plans, and follow-up care instructions.
    • Address patient inquiries, concerns, and requests in a timely and compassionate manner.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Maintain inventory of clinical supplies, ensure adequate stock levels, and reorder supplies as needed.
    • Perform regular inventory audits to monitor usage and minimize waste.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures, including HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and compliance audits as required.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in a medical office or clinical setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and insurance protocols.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant or Medical Receptionist is a plus, but not required.
