OVERVIEW
The Employment Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing Individual Employability Plans (IEP) for employable family members aged 18 to 64. This role involves providing comprehensive employment services to help clients achieve economic self-sufficiency. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops Individual Employability Plans (IEP) for clients aged 18-64 using Arizona Refugee Resettlement Program Development System (ARRPODS) and other systems assigned
- Outlines specific strategies and timetables for prompt employment
- Ensures plans include provisions for job advancements and wage increases
- Maintains accurate employment records, including updating employment records in ARRPODS for each job obtained or lost
- Develops, completes, manages, and updates household budgets to determine economic self-sufficiency
- Provides client compliance and support by conducting weekly check-ins with Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) recipients to verify compliance with employment activities
- Documents interactions and follow-up actions in ARRPODS and any other case notes systems
- Initiates sanctioning policies and inform authorities of non-compliance when needed
- Provides employment orientation and job readiness activities
- Offers linguistically appropriate and culturally responsive job assistance sessions
- Assists clients in navigating the local labor market and addressing personal/interpersonal issues
- Supports clients in job development and retention, emphasizing the importance of early employment
- Delivers collaboration and coordination with community organizations to address cultural barriers
- Arranges transportation services for employment activities
- Advocates for client access to Department of Economic Security (DES) Jobs Program services; provides necessary documentation to English Language Training (ELT) providers
- Furnishes ongoing client and employer interaction by conducting follow-up communications with employed clients and employers within one day, 30 days, and 90 days of employment, when appropriate
- Addresses adjustment needs and provides ongoing support at one week, one month, and three-month intervals
- Coordinates service provisions with case workers and other programs clients may need.
- Assists Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients with Jobs Program participation requirements
- Maintains documentation of all services and interactions, ensuring compliance with program guidelines
- Meets with clients to help achieve desired outcomes; completes monthly check-ins to ensure wellbeing and access to all basic needs
- Responsible for ensuring clients successfully navigate the social services system in order to get the services requested, and that barriers are removed
- May drive agency or personal vehicle on company business
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Executive Director of Human Resources.
- Bachelor Degree in Human Services or related field
- 3 years of experience in case management
- Proven computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
- Proven strong communication skills - oral and written are clear, concise, and in an organized fashion using appropriate grammar, style, and tone
- Proven record of working effectively with families of varied lifestyles, backgrounds, and ethnicities
- Ability to lift 35 pounds 10% of the time
- Ability to stoop, bend, climb, and reach
REGULATORY
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver license, proof of insurance, and 39-month motor vehicle report
- Ability to obtain and maintain Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and FBI National Criminal Records History Report (employer paid)
- Pass pre-employment drug screen (incudes marijuana, regardless of recreational use laws) (employer paid)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master Degree in human services or related field
- Additional years of directly-related experience
- Multilingual
