Job Overview

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a leading international non-governmental organization (NGO) operating in over 50 countries and 25 U.S. cities. We are seeking a highly skilled Employment Specialist to join our team in the Economic Empowerment Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Intake and Assessment: Conduct thorough intake and assessment of refugee clients to identify their employment needs and goals.
  • Personalized Employment Plans: Create tailored employment plans for each client, outlining their strengths, skills, and job search strategies.
  • Employer Partnerships: Establish and maintain relationships with local employers to secure suitable job opportunities for clients.
  • Job Search Support: Provide ongoing support to clients throughout the job search process, including resume building, interview preparation, and job placement.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely reporting of client progress and outcomes, as well as compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree preferred, with at least two years of relevant experience in employment services, social work, or a related field.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of the local job market, US job search process, and employment laws and regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English, with bilingualism a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and valid driver's license.
Working Environment
  • Work Setting: Standard office setting with occasional travel to meet with clients and employers.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, as needed, to accommodate client needs.
