Job Description:
ANGARAI's Fire Protection System Inspector is responsible for ensuring that fire protection systems within buildings and facilities are in compliance with local, state, and national fire safety codes and regulations. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe environment for occupants and preventing potential disasters.
Major Roles and Responsibilities:
The roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conduct Inspections: Perform regular inspections of fire protection systems, including but not limited to fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and emergency lighting.
- Code Compliance: Ensure that all fire protection systems meet the requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes, local building codes, and other relevant regulations.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and tests performed on fire protection systems. Document any deficiencies and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Testing and Maintenance: Test and maintain fire protection equipment to ensure proper functionality. This may include conducting flow tests on sprinkler systems, testing fire alarms, and verifying the operation of emergency exits.
- Collaboration: Work closely with building owners, facility managers, and other stakeholders to schedule and coordinate inspections. Provide feedback and recommendations for system upgrades or replacements as needed.
- Educational Outreach: Offer guidance and information to building occupants regarding fire safety practices, evacuation procedures, and the proper use of fire protection equipment.
- Reports and Documentation: Prepare detailed reports summarizing inspection findings, including any violations or deficiencies observed. Ensure that reports are accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Stay updated on changes in fire safety codes and regulations and apply this knowledge to inspections and recommendations.
- Emergency Response: In some cases, provide assistance during emergency situations, such as fires or other disasters, by ensuring that fire protection systems are functioning properly.
Minimum Qualification and skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a certification from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection systems, inspections, or related roles is often preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant NFPA codes and local building/fire codes.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with building owners, facility managers, and other stakeholders
