Responsible for the supervision and operation of internal and external security personnel assigned to the JHMI campus. Gives direction, training and guidance to Johns Hopkins Public Safety Officers and Sergeants who patrol internally or externally via foot, mobile unit and bicycle, or Communications Protective Services personnel, or security officers as assigned.



1 Supervises and coordinates the day-to-day operation and activities of assigned security personnel.

2. Prepares weekly schedules assigning officers to a post or patrol according to security requirements. Conducts roll-call.

3. Ensures that each employee receives proper training regarding practices and procedures necessary to successfully perform their assigned tasks.

4. Verifies that all officers properly and legibly prepare appropriate reports to include activity reports, incident reports and other designated forms. Checks for accuracy and completeness.

5. Prepares and distributes, in a timely manner, daily supervisory reports and documentation.

6. Inspects personnel to ensure uniform standard compliance.

7. Directs subordinates in enforcing compliance with security rules and policies.

8. Responds to calls from subordinates, clients, Operations Supervisors, and External Operations Supervisors to direct activities during critical situations (intruders, fire, theft, etc).

9. Routinely confers with and briefs Corporate Security Services on all matters that have potential to impact on the effective operation of the assigned shift, i.e., issues dealing with clients, employee problems, disciplinaries, counseling, policies, procedures, work assignments and patrol observations.

10. Provides input to Corporate Security Services regarding employee performance. Prepares performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.

11. Prepares payroll sheets and other personnel records.

12. Performs any and all assignments at the direction of Corporate Security Services management.
