Job Description:

ANGARAI's Elevator Inspectors are responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of elevators, escalators, and other vertical transportation systems. They conduct inspections, review plans and specifications, and enforce compliance with relevant local, state, and federal regulations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the safety and functionality of vertical transportation equipment.

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

The roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct Inspections: Perform routine and periodic inspections of elevators, escalators, and related equipment to ensure they meet safety standards and comply with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Review Plans and Specifications: Examine elevator installation plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Evaluate Safety Measures: Assess safety features, such as emergency brakes, interlocks, and door systems, to ensure they function properly.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of inspections, including findings, recommendations, and compliance status. Generate inspection reports and submit them to relevant authorities.
  • Issue Violations and Notices: Issue violation notices for non-compliant elevators and work with building owners or contractors to rectify issues.
  • Provide Technical Expertise: Offer technical advice and expertise to building owners, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding elevator installation, maintenance, and compliance.
  • Stay Updated on Codes and Regulations: Keep abreast of changes in local, state, and federal elevator codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Authorities: Work closely with regulatory agencies, building departments, and other relevant authorities to ensure compliance with codes and standards.

Minimum Qualification and skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Must possess a Maryland qualified third party Elevator Inspectors (QEI).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in elevator installation, maintenance, or inspection is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal elevator codes and regulations.
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of elevator systems, components, and safety features.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with stakeholders, both orally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools for documentation and reporting.
