Halvik is seeking a Director of Human Resources to support its needs as a fast-paced, culture-driven organization in the government contracting sector. The Director of HR will provide expertise in the areas of HR operations, talent acquisition and management, employee relations, workforce planning, and total rewards. The successful candidate will be both a strategic thinker and a hands-on practioner who will shape and execute HR best practices and promote employee journey experiences aimed to attract, develop, and retain top talent. As a member of the senior leadership team reporting to the CEO, the HR Director will collaborate across functions and with management to support corporate objectives. This is an opportunity to lead the HR function of a high growth company and build a people operations foundation that can scale for years to come.

The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, innovative, employee centric, business focused and customer service oriented, with hands-on knowledge of HR business processes. They are compassionate problem solvers and apply their experience to leading change management strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to company's overall business strategy; evaluate and influence the effect of business decisions on people and translate business needs to actionable HR programs and solutions.
  • Lead HR department vision and strategy; drive the work of the HR team to achieve organizational goals and support a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to apply and create best practice solutions.
  • Design and implement various day-to-day initiatives across the talent lifecycle including talent acquisition, onboarding, compensation and pay administration, benefits and leaves, employee relations, performance management and career development.
  • Lead the definition, development and overall management of a job classification and position description framework consistent with the company's core capabilities.
  • Build programs designed to enhance and reinforce employee engagement and productivity and recognize employees for their contributions to the company's success.
  • Manage HR operations by developing HR processes and implementing systems that support company growth.
  • Collaborate with internal HR stakeholders and other functional areas to build, integrate, and maintain HR technology interfaces across the company to drive efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with, and manage reporting for, local, state, and federal laws and regulations. With support of counsel, manage employee legal interactions.
  • Develop, communicate, and manage employment policies that provide up-to-date legal and equitable guidance for employees.
  • Serve as partner and advisor to line management on a full range of HR and related business subjects, and act as the key facilitator and communicator in implementing HR programs within the organization.
  • Manage a comprehensive benefits program; review benefits annually for cost and level of coverage and make recommendations for benefits changes to meet organizational objectives.
  • Act as resource, problem solver and advisor to employees on a wide range of human resource issues; oversee accurate and timely responses to administrative and employee relations questions.
  • Lead HR department planning, metrics and reporting, and budget management.
  • Hire, coach and develop a high performing HR team to scale as the company grows.
  • Lead efforts to integrate employees, HR systems, and HR policies during company acquisition events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in human resources, with at least 4 years of experience successfully building, leading, and managing an HR department in the government contracting industry.
  • Demonstrated experience serving the federal government market, including knowledge and experience with clearance/public trust investigations and onboarding processes for candidates with varying work statuses (e.g., citizens, Green Card holders, H1Bs, student visas, etc.).
  • Experience partnering with business operations teams and leaders.
  • Strong business acumen and presence, with ability to influence senior leaders on critical issues and decisions, who can also interact credibly with all levels of employees.
  • Strategic thinker who takes initiative but is also willing to conduct tactical work.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent change and growth.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple stakeholders, influence and resolve conflict.
  • Demonstrated high-level analytical skills including in-depth evaluation of issues, information gathering and synthesis, development of metrics, evaluation of options, and communication of solutions to meet the needs of various groups in the organization.
  • Outstanding leadership and project-management skills; ability to model team building, coach developing managers and leaders, and problem-solve at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communicator who values candor; written and oral communication skills for developing and delivering training, policies, and analytical reports, and correspondence that propel organizational culture.
  • Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and a strong sense of personal accountability.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree required, or in place of degree, 8+ years of relevant HR management experience; related certification preferred (i.e., SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, etc.).
