QSCC is looking for a communications & events enthusiast to join our team In the newly created role of Specialist – Communications & Events, you will work with the Manager – Communications & Events (C&E) to develop and implement external and internal communications. This individual will be a “go-to” for crafting business-focused updates for a variety of audiences, including supplier partners, distributors, and QSCC members. You will serve as a subject matter expert and partner in developing templates, such as for internal-facing newsletters, and graphics, such as for apparel or recruiting collateral, to ensure a unified, consistent approach that aligns with QSCC’s brand and values. Through channels such as LinkedIn and QSCC’s associate-led committees, you will also have the opportunity to partner on fun, positive messages that define and promote QSCC’s culture, identity and mission.

 

In addition to a primary focus on external and internal communications, there is also an event-focused component of this role. As a member of the C&E team, you will support events ranging from philanthropic golf outings to Board of Directors meetings that may be on-site (Dublin, OH), remote, and/or virtual events across the U.S. Responsibilities will range and may include event communications, registration, meeting coordination, logistics (such as team travel and supplier coordination), and catering,

Key Responsibilities Include:


Business Communications

  • Create, edit, and publish communications for external audiences, including members, the Wendy’s brand, distributors, and supplier partners, such as memos to restaurant operators regarding supply disruptions or transitions, memos to distributors, member mailings, board election communications, partnership press releases, social media, etc. maintenance of
  • Help maintain QSCC’s website and LinkedIn profile, ensuring that all content is current and relevant.\

Event Support

  • Under the leadership of the Manager – Communications and Marketing, support on-site, remote, and/or virtual events across the U.S., and occasionally into Canada.
  • Includes partnerships with The Wendy’s Company, Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, and QSCC’s Board of Directors.
  • Events range from philanthropic golf outings to Board of Directors meetings. This includes, but may not be limited to: site visits, event communications, registration, meeting coordination, logistics (such as team travel and supplier coordination), catering, and fundraising.

Marketing Support

  • Provide marketing & communications expertise to QSCC team members responsible for programs that generate member interest in products or services. Gather the materials necessary to understand the project and help determine the most effective communications technique. 
  • Support requests for internal-facing initiatives such as newsletters.
  • Provide suggestions concerning graphics, clarity, and distribution.
  • Develop graphics as needed, such as for branding materials.
  • May include production of some promotional materials, e.g. recruiting collateral and service marketing campaigns.
  • “Own the brand.” Provide consultative support and templates for communications. Ensures that all materials present a clear, unified, and positive image for the organization.

Internal Communications

  • Create and publish internal communications & presentations, including organization updates, recognition, support for company meetings, and management of intranet content. Serves as communications lead for QSCC’s employee engagement group and other culture-driving initiatives.

And Our Ideal Candidate Meets the Following Qualifications:


  • 2+ years of experience in Communications, Marketing, or other relevant function, including experience writing, editing, and organizing both internal and external-facing communications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Communications, or related field  (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Understanding of the restaurant industry and/or supply chain a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that include public speaking and presentations.
  • Ability to use tact and professionalism, including in times of stress and among varying levels of leadership. Ability to adapt and respond to difficult questions and issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, time management skills, and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with confidential and/or sensitive information a plus. Able to exercise discretion in communicating on a “need to know” basis and in line with company values.
  • Thorough knowledge & understanding of the Microsoft Suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Graphic design experience and ability to leverage tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud preferred. Have experience with video production? Even better, but not required.
  • Enthusiastically embraces the challenge of mastering new tools and concepts in the ever-evolving landscape of both communication and supply chain. Comfortable navigating ambiguity.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders across levels of the organization and with diverse personalities & workstyles.
