SUMMARY

The digital content team at AccuWeather is seeking an Audience Engagement Specialist to develop distribution strategies that extend the reach and amplification of content via web and app push notifications, in-app messaging, SEO and other avenues. The Audience Engagement Specialist is joining an expanding Digital Content, Audience Development team and will collaborate extensively with their analytics, editorial and meteorology counterparts. Using analytics, research and insights, the Audience Engagement Specialist will work closely with Editorial, Meteorology and Forecasting teams to strategize, craft and publish messaging, as well as online articles, to ensure timely execution and delivery of notifications.

This successful candidate will be responsible for using online push notification and publishing tools to further increase web & mobile app traffic and user engagement, as well as use critical and analytical thinking that supports push notification strategy.

The Audience Engagement Specialist has a solid understanding of the digital media landscape and brings an analytical and creative approach. This person is skilled in creative writing and has an eye for design, making sure content is engaging and visually appealing.

The position is based and on-site in State College, PA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with editorial, product, analytics, and weather forecasting teams to develop and execute data-driven browser and app push communication strategies
  • Research and pitch trending news stories related to weather, science & health topics articles and videos across web and mobile platforms
  • Assist the digital content team by publishing partner-related content via WordPress CMS
  • Work closely with analytics and digital leadership to meet KPIs
  • Produce and execute browser and app push notifications while collaborating with the editorial and meteorology teams to guide daily content curation and distribution
  • Develop and execute data-driven audience growth and retention plans that are consistent with the brand, mission and corporate initiatives
  • Create push notification A/B testing plans for compelling push notification titles/body copy, content, and send times to constantly improve engagement
  • Produce and distribute daily, weekly and monthly reporting on traffic and engagement trends.
  • Track new growth opportunities and best practices based on emerging digital trends, competitive business intelligence, and consumer insight

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mass media, journalism, communication and/or data analytics
  • 1-3 years of user acquisition, audience development, audience engagement and/or content and editorial strategy/development
  • Fluent in browser and app push notifications, in-app messaging, and SEO
  • Compose, execute and analyze browser and app A/B test strategies
  • Knowledgeable in browser, mobile app and app push notifications across iOS/android platforms
  • Familiar with digital analytics with partner publication tools.. WordPress, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Data Studio, ChartBeat, Parsley, Looker, and other relevant analytics tools
  • Ability to clearly articulate and present analyses to all levels of AccuWeather's teams
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills are a must
  • Familiarity with weather platforms or interest in weather forecasting or meteorology are highly desired

Operating Hours

  • Weekdays: 8am ET - 4pm ET
  • Some weekends and holidays will require half-day hours in order to uphold breaking news push operations
