ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with participant orientation.
  • Assist with outreach and follow-up with applicants and participants.
  • Proficient understanding and navigation of the SYEP online system (YEPS) 
  • Organize and calculate participant timesheets every week; input the number of hours for each Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) participant into the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) timesheet system by the set deadline;
  • Ensure that all signed timesheets are dropped off at the main site in a timely fashion to avoid interference with timesheet input and accurate record keeping;
  • Submit SYEP participant back pay requests with the approval of the Program Director;
  • Maintain extremely organized records of already entered timesheets;
  • Notify worksite sponsors, via phone and email communication, about the arrival of participant debit cards;
  • Assist other SYEP staff with work responsibilities, if needed;
  • Assist with any program activity deemed necessary by the Program Director.

COMPETENCIES

  • Relevant experience and/or transferrable skills preferred
  • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and have the ability to prioritize tasks;
  • Must be able to meet deadlines;
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask, take initiative, and work independently on tasks;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a plus.
  • Availability between 2 PM-7 PM

EDUCATION:

  • Associate Degree or at least two years of college experience preferred.
  • Two (2) year history of computer experience is required. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Ability to work with a highly diverse group is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of East Flatbush, Flatbush, Crown Heights, and Canarsie neighborhoods.
