Job DescriptionJob Description

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Systems Administrator will be primarily responsible for the specification, installation and support of computer servers and workstations. They will design, install and maintain well-functioning computer networks and connections. This position will perform hardware and software analysis to provide comparative data of performance characteristics and suitability within the existing systems environment. The Systems Administrator will report directly to the Infrastructure Manager.

KEY TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform troubleshooting to system failures and identify and resolve any disruptions that would impact efficiency of network
  • Work collaboratively with individuals from various departments to ensure all systems are operating properly
  • Support selection, installation and troubleshooting of Windows and Linux servers
  • Support selection, installation and troubleshooting of Windows workstations and laptops
  • Understand basic IP networking technology to assist with the maintenance and any issues related to switches, routers, and firewalls
  • Oversee and boost connectivity and performance of the network
  • Provide and assist with technical support to all SCL personnel in a professional manner
  • Deploy advanced technologies with time sensitive deadlines to ensure optimal functionality of systems
  • Recommend changes for improved systems availability and performance
  • Assist with other IT-related tasks including, general user support and network and phone system maintenance
  • Perform necessary upgrades to network infrastructure as needed
  • Support and assist with any projects as deemed necessary by the Infrastructure Manager and Chief Technology Officer

QUALIFICATONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 3-5 years of relevant experience

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCES AND COMPETENCIES

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and industry software platforms
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent prioritization skills to quickly triage and provide resolutions on varying degree of complex issues
  • Able to support multiple tasks, initiatives, and project simultaneously
  • Experienced in installing operating systems such as Windows, Outlook and other applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, across various levels of the company
  • Skilled in translating technology issues and solutions to various levels of business leaders
