YOUR IMPACT

The Head of Design is an essential leader in the continued evolution and growth of the Crunch Fitness brand. Reporting to the Chief Experience Officer, the role will serve as the primary ambassador, resource, and executor of the Crunch design vision for its corporate and rapidly expanding franchise location portfolios.

The position will guide and lead a team with responsibility for brand guidelines, prototype, design standards, equipment decisions and CAPEX projects for corporate locations. The ideal candidate has a profound grasp of the design and development process in a multi-site environment in tandem with the affinity and experience to make, grow and maintain exceptional relationships with internal and external audiences, primarily the Crunch franchise community. You are a leader by nature but always able to dive into the details in order to meet and exceed objectives.

Key internal partners include the Real Estate and Construction Team, the Member Experience team, who manages all new concept development, the Marketing Department, which manages the marketing requirements of a pre-sale and new gym opening, as well as the Executive Team.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Own the construction prototype and design manual, including coordinating with management team and department leaders to effectively communicate brand standards to owners, architects, vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Lead and manage project tracker, tracking project opportunities (pipeline) and stages of active projects (from strategy to implementation).
  • Approve all initial floor plans, exterior signage, and nonstandard interior graphics requests for all projects, franchise and corporate.
  • Improve and update our design standards to keep the experience inside our clubs at the forefront of fitness.
  • Provide strategic direction to companywide program initiatives for corporate and franchised-owned clubs.
  • Create conceptual layouts of club and proposed gym equipment for new clubs, new initiatives, and opportunities to drive / increase membership and company revenues.
  • Develop program forecasting and scheduling and manage end to end construction timeline of all corporate-owned clubs.
  • Serve as an expert in material selection and design expertise in the fitness industry.
  • Partner with Strategic Sourcing to grow national vendor relationships and seek to streamline process surrounding ordering and installation of equipment / materials.
  • Facilitate feedback discussions between Architect, GC, FO, and Design team to improve brand consistency, material, vendor selections, and efficiencies.
  • Maintain and update the Crunch Design Manual.
  • Drive cost efficiencies through analysis of historical data for benchmarking and forecasting purposes.
  • Ensure work across team is delegated to deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the team to foster professional growth and career development.
WHAT YOULL NEED:

  • Bachelors degree in design, real estate, architecture or other relevant fields or equivalent professional experience is required. Advanced degree is desired.
  • 10+ years in design and development with 4+ years in a leadership role. Multi-site and franchise experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong ability to communicate at all levels inside and outside the organization, fostering positive working connections.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to persuasively convey ideas and encourage diverse groups to embrace new perspectives, while also being open to revising one's own views based on fresh insights or limitations.
  • A quick study with a proactive mindset and innovative problem-solving capabilities, showing willingness to experiment with new strategies; characterized by decisiveness, practicality, and logical thinking.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results within defined timelines.
  • Exceptional acumen in collaborating with matrixed partners establishing productive relationships that advance business objectives.
  • Proactive ownership of functional area, able to lead and inspire through actions, forming collaborative and effective team dynamics.
  • Mastery in AutoCAD, Revit, InDesign; Deep experience in Salesforce, Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint.
