We are currently searching for a motivated Southeast Florida Senior Drainage Engineer to join our Southeast Region in Maitland, FL.

The ideal candidate will develop strong working relationships with clients and staff plus maintain a high level of project standards and exceed client expectations.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assists with various design assignments for the various Department of Transportation and local municipalities
  • Oversees the performance of engineering deliverables associated with Drainage and roadway infrastructure improvements
  • Works with senior staff to develop plans and calculations for transportation and drainage related projects
  • Oversees the design of stormwater management facilities to meet water quality and quantity requirements
  • Understands applicable policies, methods, practices, and procedures
  • Oversees the design and Quality Control of roadway and drainage deliverables to various transportation departments and municipalities
  • Participating on the Southeast Drainage team supporting the growth and performance of the organization
  • Representing Volkert with clients and stakeholders, as well as industry and market environments
  • Manage and leverage group's resources and capabilities to meet company and individual goals and objectives
  • Retain, supervise, and mentor staff as Senior Drainage Engineer Lead for Southeast Region
  • Represent Volkert at conferences and other client-focused or industry-focused events and making presentations in areas of individual expertise when applicable
  • Prepare and present project presentations, studies, and reports
  • Assist in developing project staffing plans and work forecasting
  • Provide team leadership, project management and mentoring of junior-level staff
  • Other duties as required

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years of drainage engineering experience post registration
  • Manage staff in their performance in drainage design and production for transportation projects including calculations and plans preparation
  • Prior experience as an experienced drainage engineer on civil or transportation projects
  • Experience and ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems
  • Must be able to communicate effectively; verbal and written
  • PE Required
  • Florida Licensed Professional Engineer or if registered in another state, the ability to obtain registration in the State of Florida within six months
  • Experience in design of drainage conveyance systems and plans preparation in compliance with FDOT and other client standards
  • Experience in Design software such as ICPR, and HEC-RAS
  • Experience in the following software: Geopak Drainage, Geopak, Inroads, Corridor Modeling, Microstation or other equivalent CAD software
