Join our team at Dayton T. Brown, Inc. as a full-time Estimator in our Bohemia, NY location. Experience firsthand the excitement of working in the Aerospace industry, where cutting-edge technology meets exceptional service.

As an Estimators for DTB, you will work to develop bids and assist the company to control costs by reviewing the budgets of various projects. Within this role, you will be responsible to calculate all resources needed, all necessary supplies, provide timelines and costs of transportation and taking a fluctuating market and escalating prices into account when projecting a budget. You will also be responsible to keep up with all current projects and products that the company has in play to see if they are profitable or if the company needs to alter its business strategy.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Assess the amount of Engineering, technician and program management hours and types of materials the job will required to complete the job.
  • Evaluate subcontractor bids and judge risks relative to feasibility and compatibility with our resources and expertise while evaluating price, schedule, and the labor force.
  • Generate documents to reflect and record their data and conclusions and may work with our purchasing department to obtain materials and track costs.
  • Compiles itemized materials and price lists from blueprints and specifications.
  • Itemizes equipment to be produced by the organization or to be purchased from outside sources.
  • Computes profit percentages and adds to cost estimates to obtain price.
  • Consults with engineering functions on cost problems.
  • Utilizes DTB available processes and current industry standards to continue to develop cost-effective solutions to customer inquiries.

The ideal candidate will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in S.T.E.M fields or management
  • 10+ yrs. experience in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing industries
  • Certifications in any of the following, a PLUS: Professional organizations that offer certification to industrial estimators include the American Society of Professional Estimators, the Society of Cost Estimators and Analysis and the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE International).
  • Knowledge in working with test specifications, including MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 and RTCA/DO-160G.
  • Strong organizational skillset
  • US Citizenship is required
