The Fleet Manager is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the organization's motor vehicles. Develop and implement vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance programs, manage fleet department budgets, develop and maintain outside vendor and service provider relationships.  Provide data analysis for all data pertaining to the fleet program.  Provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Track and communicate related performance indicators regarding Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) by determining areas of performance issues; collaborating with operations, and reliability teams; and providing summaries to Executive team to address issues.
  • Coordinate, communicate, and schedule all special project and corporate work initiatives to be completed within required time frames, coordinates both internal and external resources.
  • Maintain equipment in a safe and efficient working condition by collaborating with leadership team on the development of maintenance plans; maintaining job plan library and executing preventive maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime; tracks and coordinates utilization of spare parts and special-order parts inventory.
  • Ensure maintenance plans are followed by assigning work to third party vendors, designating repair facilities, following up on work in progress, negotiating pricing and approving repairs
  • Ensure roadside events are resolved in the most efficient and cost-effective manner by use of appropriate third-party vendors.
  • Proficienct in Micrsoft Office (above average XCEL)
  • Develop, communicate, and implement processes and practices to meet business needs by collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; analyzing and applying information from multiple sources; monitoring progress and results; and identifying and addressing improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrate, promote, and support compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by explaining, guiding, and demonstrating how to apply these in executing business processes and practices
  • Leads and participates in teams by using and sharing resources, information, and tools; determining customer needs and business priorities; coordinating and executing work assignments; providing advice, feedback, and support to ensure timelines and work quality are achieved; and modeling and helping others with how to adapt to change or new challenges.

Skills Required:

  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner independently, as well as in group problem-solving situations
  • Gather and analyze information skillfully, develop alternative solutions
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations, respond promptly to customer needs and requests for service and assistance
  • Must exhibit effective written and oral communication, respond well to questions, and be able to read and interpret written information
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, looking for ways to improve and promote quality in all things
  • Ability to react well under pressure, set and achieve challenging goals, demonstrate persistence
  • Must be willing and able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and Great Plains Accounting software a plus

Education and Experience:

  • At least five years' experience in Fleet repair and fleet administration.
  • Specific experience in roadside assistance, repair price negotiation, telematics (cameras and GPS),
  • fleet maintenance software,
  • fuel administration, toll devices, and DOT regulations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and stay focused for long periods of time
  • Vision correctable to 20/20
  • Finger dexterity for keyboarding and computer usage
