POSITION SUMMARY:

The Plant Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations of the entire manufacturing facility including safety, quality, efficiencies, and meeting customer expectations. This includes driving strategic plans that ensure that production goals are met in the most cost-effective manner delivering expected financial results. This position is a highly visible role and will interact with all levels within the company and with management teams and external partners. This role oversees cross-functional teams who take care of day-to-day details but is also responsible for ensuring that deadlines are met, and Company standards are upheld. All this aligned with the vision and business model of our organization.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Ensures that the facility provides the highest quality products produced in the most efficient manner within budgeted costs. Implements systems to effectively manage production schedules properly supporting the business.

Manages profit and loss for the facility and drives Plant performance and reviews KPIs regularly (Daily, Weekly, and Monthly).

Leads the overall strategic planning efforts for the location which include cost reduction initiatives, capital planning, and resources as well as in other areas.

Manages the overall safety, quality, scheduling, production, shipping, maintenance, and other administrative functions for the facility.

Leads the effort in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient operation working within all company guidelines and local/state/federal regulations.

Plays a lead role in ensuring that all operations maintain appropriate customer service levels and intervening as required should specific customer issues arise.

Plays a key role in the professional development of the cross-functional teams that report to this role as well as working along-side human resources to create and maintain an operating culture that encourages professional development overall

Is an active participant in the performance management process which includes conducting performance reviews, delivering coaching, administering progressive discipline when appropriate, and providing frequent formal and informal feedback to teams.

Trains, develops, and motivates staff to optimize the workforce.

Conducts regular staff meetings which focus on key operative measurements.

Schedules and conducts plant communication meetings for all employees.

Interfaces with customers and vendors and visits both as necessary

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Required – bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations, Business Management, or related field; in lieu of bachelor’s degree, minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership role serving in high volume manufacturing environment plus the required years of experience listed below

Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in operations, maintenance, engineering and/or process improvement roles including managing teams of people

Proven experience and record of successes in a high-speed manufacturing environment

Project management experience

Experience with the business aspects of operations and plant management regarding P&L responsibilities. Specific experience working on capital allocation and planning including engineering, costing/budgeting, and understanding the assets of the facility.

Requirements:

GENERAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Demonstrated experience with developing and maintaining a positive employee relations environment through well-established communication programs, approachability and visibility with all employees, and a proactive and positive leadership style.

Experience in a commercial role and/or with direct customer contact as an operations professional.

Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, proven organizational and planning abilities, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.

A demonstrated ability to work “cross-border” with an appreciation of both personal and cultural nuances.

Understanding manufacturing processes

Innovative leader with the ability to identify opportunities and influence organizations to gain support and overcome resistance with data and persuasion

Ability to develop manufacturing documentation

Detail-oriented, ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, flexibility to reorganize and reschedule work on short notice to meet tight deadlines, have a strong quality mindset and enjoy working in a team environment; ability to maintain accurate, detailed records that will be audited periodically

Excellent communication and negotiation skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees and clients

Ability to work on multiple projects at once with tight deadlines

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Must be able to identify and execute improvement opportunities through both process improvements and system improvements

Ability to take ownership and responsibility with little direction

Ability to be pragmatic in decision making; requires high integrity

Ability to effectively train people inside and outside their work group

Excellent knowledge of quality problem solving methods, Six Sigma black belt is a plus

OSHA certification is a plus

Proven ability to work collaboratively with others, friendly and personable


SOFTWARE/COMPUTER SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Proficient level of knowledge in basic hardware and software using of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Work, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Visio, Google Workspace, Outlook/Gmail and web-site software required

Working knowledge of ERP & SAP systems (prior experience with SAP strongly preferred)

Has the ability to learn new software systems and data management systems quickly

Proficient keyboarding and typing skills

HOURS / SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Monday-Friday 6 a.m.-4 p.m.; present to fulfill job duties & meet operational demands/support; schedule may vary depending on plant operational needs thus flexibility is required which could include long days, occasional evenings & weekends; regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position; position may require travel to meetings, conferences, workshops or other facilities
