Summary
 As an integral member of our Compliance team, the Lead Compliance Specialist, Pharmacy, will assume a central role in upholding pharmacy security and regulatory compliance at the highest level. This multifaceted position encompasses overseeing and directing daily operations of the Compliance Team. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with diverse departments, spearheading the implementation of comprehensive compliance programs and taking the lead in overseeing the activities of compliance specialists. Alongside conducting audits and analyzing risk metrics, the Lead Compliance Specialist will be tasked with developing and maintaining robust compliance education programs, new pharmacy licensure, and ensuring continuous adherence to licensing requirements and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with diverse departments and possess great presentation, knowledge of the pharmacy regulatory landscape, and excellent communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and management of the pharmacy’s compliance program to ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of compliance-related documentation, including policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Ensure policies are effectively communicated and enforced across all pharmacy locations.
  • Conduct and oversee regular internal audits of pharmacy operations, focusing on high-risk areas such as controlled substances, billing practices, and record-keeping.
  • Ensure all employees are knowledgeable about compliance regulations, policies, and best practices.
  • Oversee the maintenance and renewal of all pharmacy and pharmacist licenses, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure all pharmacy employees and facilities are fully licensed and certified as required.
  • Assist with the application process for new state pharmacy licenses and monitor the status of pending applications.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of PDMP errors and discrepancies, working with state PDMP administrators as necessary.
  • Work closely with the sales team to vet and onboard new clinics and partners, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve all new clinic applications and documentation for compliance purposes.
  • Monitor ongoing compliance of newly onboarded clinics, providing support and guidance as needed.

Qualifications
  • A Pharm.D. from a School of Pharmacy with full accreditation.
  • An active Pharmacist license in the State of Texas.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to deliver business reviews and staff training
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations, including the CSA, FD&C, DSCSA, and NABP
  • Stellar communication abilities and interpersonal acumen.
  • Teamwork-oriented with a penchant for collaborative problem-solving.
  • Previous exposure to a compounding pharmacy environment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy license application process

Experience
  • At least 4 years of experience as a licensed pharmacist
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience required
  • Experience implementing and maintaining compliance systems preferred.

Knowledge and Skills
• Familiarity with related regulatory matters and compliance initiatives.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Ability to work independently to manage work tasks effectively.
• Must be detail-oriented and possess a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment while adapting to changing      responsibilities and coordinating multiple job tasks.
• Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Must be a self-starter and results driven.
• Sensitivity to confidential documents and information.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently.
  • Capability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
  • Must have close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
