Delta Star also provides comprehensive engineering, testing, maintenance services, and parts for any transformer manufacturer through our Field Service business unit, ensuring our customer's transformers and mobiles maintain peak performance.

Purpose
The Mobile Substation Technical Services Engineers are a customer facing critical resource for Delta Star in the space of our flagship product line of mobile substations and mobile substation engineered services. These engineers must possess a broad and diverse skillset in their ability to not only be technically competent in a wide and varying range of unique power technologies but to also possess the interpersonal skills, the ability, and the desire to present and connect with customers at all levels. They must have the desire and ability to travel, and to function comfortably in an environment of non-standard work hours.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform full mobile substation configuration, set-up, testing, diagnostics, and trouble shooting.
- Perform customer commissioning, training, and energization in the factory and in the field.
- Assist engineering and customers in all aspects of mobile substations.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Manufacturing resources to describe and satisfy customer requests/modification during the commissioning process.

Level I - Trainee
- New to mobile substations
- Fundamental understanding of power, control systems, and electro-mechanical devices
- Fundamental skillset in testing, configuring, and troubleshooting controls and electro-mechanical devices
- Main tasks will be day to day mobile substation control testing and trouble shooting
- Ability to communicate issues that arise during control testing
Level II
- Able to perform basic configuration and testing of mobile substation control circuits
- Able to interface with customers and demonstrate technical competency and basic product knowledge
- Able to assist higher level engineers with customer commissioning and training
- Possess a basic understanding of mobile substation and related control systems
- Ability to troubleshoot basic issues that arise during control testing
Level III
- Experienced and able to perform full mobile commissioning and training without assistance
- Ability to troubleshoot most issues that arise during testing and commissioning
- Well versed in all mobile control and electromechanical systems
- Able to communicate about basic mobile mechanical aspects - includes trailer, hydraulics, switch gear mechanisms, coolers, pumps
Level IV
- Technically competent in all mechanical and electro-mechanical mobile substation devices - Trailer, trailering, hydraulics, switchgear, cooler pumps
- Able to set-up, configure, test, perform diagnostics, and commission the mobile substation mechanical devices
- Ability to troubleshoot nearly all issues that arise during testing and commissioning
- Able to train and support customers in the mechanical aspects of mobile substations
- Able to assist in the assessment and proposal of work scope for mobile repair opportunities
- Able to assist in the dispatch and energization of mobile substations
- Educated and able to speak to mobile substation applications
- Educated and able to speak to and support customers in the maintenance of mobile substation
Level V - Principal Engineer
- Fully competent in testing, trouble shooting, and repair / maintenance of the power transformers associated with mobile substations
- Able to support customers in the application, dispatch, and energization of mobile substations without assistance
- Well versed in mobile applications and able to educate / assist existing and potential customers in mobile substation uses
- Able to assist engineering and customers in specification development for new mobile substations
- Educated and able to support customer in the maintenance of mobile substations
- Able to perform the assessment and proposal or work scope for mobile repair opportunities without assistance.
- Primary contact point for any troubleshooting that cannot be resolved by others
Education and Experience
- Electrical Engineering Degree or related as a minimum
- Experience needed to advance through each level will be demonstrated per individual and will be evaluated at the discretion of Delta Star management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
- Understanding of substation protection schemes and the devices used in these schemes
- Understanding of mobile trailer setup and ancillary trailer components
- Strong character, and the ability to professionally represent Delta Star in the face of customers and suppliers

Travel Requirements
Travel requirements at least one week per month to customer sites for training and commissioning.
