HR Works is supporting its client, a multi-faceted non-profit organization located in Rochester, NY, (fully onsite) with its search for a Human Resources Manager. This is a Direct Placement Opportunity. The ideal candidate for this role is comfortable working autonomously but enjoys and thrives in a highly collaborative environment.

The Role:

The Human Resources Manager directly administers the daily HR operations including labor relations, talent acquisition, employee retention and engagement initiatives, and performance management and development, compensation and benefits, compliance, recordkeeping, and reporting.  The HR Manager serves as the primary liaison between the Organization and union representatives, managing communication, addressing concerns, and ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements.  Additionally, the HR Manager partners with managers in learning and development initiatives, with the goal of equipping managers with the knowledge and tools they need to be successful in their roles.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Human Resources or a closely related field is required.
  • 5+ years of HR experience in a mid-sized (100+) organization is required, with 5+ years of HR Generalist experience supporting all areas of the HR function.
  • 3+ years of HR experience conducting HR investigations is required.
  • Prior experience working in a unionized environment is preferred, with a strong understanding of labor relations, collective bargaining agreements, and union dynamics.
  • A related certification is strongly preferred.
  • Technically savvy, with a demonstrated ability to work extensively within an HRIS system.
  • 2+ years of performance management and development experience, including coaching of managers and development and administration of training programs.
  • Experience working with a non-profit organization is preferred but not required.
