Job Description:
Join our team as a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse and make a difference in the lives of critically ill children. Our PICU is a 16-bed unit providing advanced care for children from birth to 18 years old with acute and chronic critical conditions. You will be part of a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, including intensivists, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and more, all working together to provide round-the-clock care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, and create, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, managing discomfort and maintaining professionalism in challenging situations.
- Collaborate with colleagues and community members to create and execute care plans, delegating tasks as appropriate and following up to ensure quality outcomes.
- Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices, regularly assessing and documenting learning needs.
- Utilize different strategies for problem-solving, recognizing limitations and prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care.
- Work within a team-oriented environment, recognizing contributions, committing to personal and professional growth, and showing a commitment to community service.
What Will Make You Successful In The Role:
- In-depth understanding of nursing and patient care standards, particularly within a PICU setting.
- Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and hospital procedures relevant to your area of practice.
- Proficiency in medical terminology with a focus on health, disease prevention, management, and common medications and their side effects.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey thoughts and instructions.
- Positive social skills to interact with a diverse range of patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking and decision-making.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- A current and valid nursing license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
