Summary:

The HR Investigations and Discipline Associate will assist with the management of workplace investigations, records, and policy/program development. The selected candidate will provide guidance and training to NAICA staff at all levels on labor relations, conduct, and performance management related matters. They will also provide support with process mapping, streamlining and automation, as needed.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

With latitude for independent action and decision, the HR Investigations and Discipline Associate will:

  • Conduct investigations in response to a range of employee relations concerns, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace violence, and other violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Coach and advise managers and supervisors on the handling of performance issues, investigations, and disciplinary actions which includes the design and implementation of performance improvement plans (PIPs).
  • Coordinate training, presentations, and facilitate workshops to ensure staff comprehension of all relevant policies and protocols related to employee discipline, EEO and Conflict of Interest.
  • Document, investigate, and resolve employee discipline and performance problems/complaints. In addition, you may conduct detailed reporting and analysis to identify trends and make recommendations for employee training, programs, and policies based on your assessment.
  • Support the investigations team witness preparation, evidence gathering interviews and document preparation for legal and labor matters related to employee misconduct and performance.
  • Serve as liaison to oversight agencies, partners, and stakeholders to ensure compliance and quality assurance.
  • Analyze investigation/complaint trends and provide leadership with effective recommendations to proactively reduce occurrences of disciplinary charges, terminations, resignations, and violation complaints.
  • Maintain accurate and easily retrievable case records and reports.
  • Examine and analyze employee records and documents, case files, and legal filings necessary to respond to requests for disciplinary actions/processes.
  • Ensure timely notification of charges and penalties for all relevant parties in compliance with labor and EEO standards.
Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field.
  • 2 years of work experience in employee relations, investigations, employment law, conflict resolution and disciplinary actions or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1 year experience with leading labor/employee investigations.
  • Knowledge and use of inclusive employee engagement and restorative conflict resolution practices.
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels within the organization and maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Excellent written communication skills and an ability to effectively articulate high-level information, perspectives, and conclusions.
  • Experience with interpretation of highly confidential information related to internal workplace investigations.
  • Extensive knowledge of employment law and best practices for investigation/employee relations.
  • Strong investigative interview experience and skills.
