This position will assist a small team developing Tableau Dashboards used to visualize Military Sealift Command maintenance effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Python and SQL.
  • Implement and manage data orchestration workflows, ensuring efficient data processing.
  • Utilize PostgreSQL for database management, including writing and optimizing SQL queries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.
  • Version control using GitHub for code management and collaboration.
  • Troubleshoot data-related issues and perform root cause analysis to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Automate data extraction and transformation processes through ODBC connections.
  • Occasional travel may be required.


Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance.
  • Proficiency in Python programming for data manipulation and automation.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience in any relational database (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or similar.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like GitHub.
  • Experience working with data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, Dagster).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Shipyard experience.
  • SAMM experience.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, including PgAdmin for database management.
  • Hands-on experience with Dagster or similar data orchestrators.
  • Familiarity with ODBC connections and data integration techniques.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining dashboards in Tableau.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Ability to work in an Agile environment and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Strong research, problem solving, and analytical skills.
