A Typical Day in the Life of a Payroll Manager at DSG:

  • Update and organize systems to manage payroll information and time off policies.
  • Manage the end-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing for all employees, including data input, calculations of wages, deductions, and adjustments.
  • Manage timecards, time entry, and timekeeping software and systems. Ensure timely completion of timecards.
  • Verify all overtime hours with the appropriate management personnel
  • Oversee internal payroll, benefits and accounting audits on a semi-annual basis or as often as required.
  • Maintain general ledger regarding payroll transactions
  • Maintain payroll records and employee files, provide documents as requested from HR staff
  • Set up new state and local tax jurisdictions as needed.
  • Onboard new employees tax on time entry system (ADP) with verification and compliance of federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, payroll processing, Year-end Tax Statements(W2 and MISC-1099), EEO, and Worker’s Compensation reporting
  • Ensure company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements regarding payroll processes
  • Responsible for Outside commission plan payroll processing and plan support.
  • Responsible for Inside commission plan enrollment, changes, reporting and communication to management staff.
  • Ensure optimization of payroll functions within HRIS
  • Prepare and communicate annual payroll calendar.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, deductions, and tax information promptly and professionally.
  • Train and support payroll staff as needed, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Work with finance and other internal departments to ensure seamless integrations of payroll data with financial systems and overall business operations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

A Successful Payroll Manager Typically Has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in Accounting, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in payroll processing for an organization preferred
  • Excellent computer skills; experience in payroll software; additional system knowledge a plus
  • In-depth understand of payroll procedures, laws, taxes, and best practices
  • An ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • The ability to uphold privacy and confidentiality with the utmost discretion
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • Precise attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
