Position Summary:

As the Surgical Coordinator, you will play a vital role in acting as the liaison between patients, surgical facility, and primary care physicians to make the surgical experience as smooth as possible.

Job Duties & Essential Functions:

  • Answer phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries
  • Schedule all patient surgeries, pre/post-operative appointments, including those with the patient’s primary care physician, ambulatory surgical center (ASC), and surgeon
  • Arrange patient transportation if necessary
  • Notify patient of all scheduled appointments
  • Prepare surgery folders and collect all necessary paperwork prior to procedure
  • Handle pre-operative testing as needed and directed by Physician
  • Review and confirm medication list from patients
  • Collect all pertinent information for upcoming procedure, such as bookings, lens orders, insurance, medical clearance, authorizations, signed consent forms, and transfers to surgical facility
  • Answer all telephone inquiries from patients, their families, or primary care physicians concerning surgery and/or related concerns
  • Contact patient after surgery to confirm medication schedule and answer any questions/concerns
  • Special projects and other duties may be assigned as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent attention to detail, along with the ability to organize and prioritize workload while managing multiple priorities
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends
  • Above average customer service skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the medical field
  • Two years relevant surgical coordinator, ophthalmic/optometric, sales experience

Work Schedule:

  • Rotating Schedule – including days, evenings, and weekends
